Thought I’d share my Vroom story for the sale of my 2021 JLU Rubi. The short story:
- sold it to Vroom for more than I paid for it 18 months ago at $54,000!
- processing took longer than I’d expect (see timeline below), but worth it for $4K more than Carvana or CarMax
- happy with the outcome, would use them again (if not in a rush)

Background:
1/15 - Carvana appraisal - $40,100
4/19 - Carvana appraisal - $50,100
4/19 - CarMax appraisal - $49,000 - had to go into the store
4/19 - Vroom appraisal - $49,500
4/22 - Day before appraisal expires an increase of $500 to $50,000

The final deal:
4/23 - Vroom appraisal - $54,000
4/30 - accepted appraisal, sent in my details
5/7 - requested for more information, the back of my DL
5/12 - paperwork to sign for the sale - a one page doc that needed a signature
5/18 - carrier assigned for pick up
5/25 - picked up
5/27 - check sent by FEDEX
5/28 - check received

I just traded in my 2012 JKU 45,000 miles and I see the dealer is already asking $29,888.

Has anyone sold to vroom or carvana lately? I got a really good offer through vroom in the beginning of June for ~50k I just checked today and they offered ~43. I was surprised it dropped so much. I have been going back and forth debating if I want to sell to order an extreme recon.

According to the experts, prices peaked in June and have been coming down since.

True you never know. Carvana offered me 46 today so I am going to think about it. That’s what I paid for it so still not a bad deal.
You should probably take that. Year? Trim? Mileage?

Sold my 2018 JLU Sport S with 46k miles in April to Carvana for same price I paid OTD.

Used car prices have been trending downward for over eight weeks now, they are expected to continue to do so. They will remain relatively high but not as high as they were earlier this year. New car inventory is expected to not recover for up to three years, this will help keep prices higher than normal but probably not as high as we have seen.

if you can, hold off a few weeks. there were multiple articles out today about how the prices are expected to surpass what they were before due to the "perfect storm" of issues.

that was the case before the recent storms and flooding, as well as delta. prices are expected to climb again after trending down recently

Hmm yeah that is definitely something to consider. I am not in a huge hurry. Thanks for the info. I will definitely keep this in mind.
