The tires I am asking for are 305/65/18. I was told that the JL would be ok without a lift. I plan to get one, just not right away. I believe the 305's are close to a 34???
Yea you’ll need a lift for 305’s. Also what’s your rim width? I use https://tiresize.com/comparison/ to get an idea for sizes. Sahara’s can take 33’s while the Rubicon’s can do 35’s before a lift.
Just checked your link and the 305/65/18 are 33.6 and 12 wide.

It’d be a tight squeeze. It depends on your backspacing as well on your rim.

It's always annoyed me that all tires don't display the normal measurements, i.e. diameter, width, wheel size. It's so painfully simple that way.

But no, some bozo got it on his head that it would be soooooo much better to involve ratios and that you should have to do math to figure out the actual size of the tire. I'd like to backhand that guy, and anyone else in the room when that was decided on as a standard.

I might have some rubbing on sharp turns...maybe that lift will be added sooner than I planned. I just didn't want to spend 2k right now. Are there less expensive ways to lift? The price I got was from the dealership and it was back ordered by thousands.

Seeing all these VIN's getting assigned in the past 24 hours had me hopeful.......and the only change that showed up on my order is that I went into "C"-Tentative Schedule. :crying:

Thank you, do you think this tire and wheel set up will be too heavy for the gate?
Personally I wouldn't worry about it, the stock gate can probably handle it just fine. There are others that prefer to err on the side of caution, but I think even Jeep has said that you can run a 35" spare without any reinforcement.

Just to give you some background, I have consistently used a spare tire bike rack on my JK with its stock 32" tire. The bike rack adds weight, and obviously so does the bike, especially since I'm usually hauling a fat tire bike, which is heavier than a normal bike. I have had mine and another bike on that rack for long road trips, and have not experienced any issues.

Unless you are adding 50+ pounds to the existing setup, I wouldn't worry about it (and you aren't).
