I figured I’d check with Jeep chat to see if mine moved. I got the 2 door production hasn’t started and is scheduled to begin the second week in April. I’m like ok, but we are in the 3rd week of April and yes it did start in the 2nd week. 3 minutes of my life I won’t get back.
thats why i said im not getting excited till i see it on the spread sheet, or confirmed from my dealer.

I also just tried that to see if I could get any indications if anything is holding up my build or its just a scheduling thing. I gave them the same thing and got the answer LEDs are the holdup.

Damn I got fooled into thinking JeepChat actually gave me some useful info:facepalm:

D1 as well with LEDs. That's from POC printouts which were confirmed as recently as today. Still not on the tracking spreadsheet, which I'm told is because my April 28 estimated build date on the POC is too far out. Should show up there within a week.

I have the LED tail lights from the cross-traffic and blind spot monitoring...JB as of today.

Perhaps the shortage is the headlights only?

Probably Ophir and maybe Imogene for the first time out. I’ll probably wait till I get 33s to do black bear
You don't need them on Black Bear. I've done it four times on 32s. Black Bear is not the most technically difficult of the trails you mention. It's the most hair raising because the consequences of leaving the trail are the most extreme. However, the Mineral Point section of the Alpine Loop has rock crawling sections more difficult than anything on Black Bear. I did it the first time with another wheeler I met on the trail and we walked each other through the toughest section. The attached picture doesn't do it justice. Note that this portion of the loop can be avoided and you may want to look at the alternative route if you consider yourself a novice.

Well that’s a relief. I’ve done mineral creek a few times in my stock JKU. Some rubbing and a bent running board but that’s was all. Never done black bear but want to sometime. Heard a few horror stories.

With your new 2dr, you'll find you have a significant advantage over Unlimiteds on Black Bear. That trail is arduous because of steep downhill grades combined with extremely tight turns and moderate rock crawling. Your shorter wheel base will give you greater latitude in navigating its tight alignment along with less risk of grinding or getting high centred. Stock Unlimiteds generally have no trouble on this trail meaning that your 2dr should make it an even less stressful experience.

My take is that there is an element of delay associated with LED lights, but not an absolute hold on production like PSTs. My original Jan 8 order did not have LED lights and went to D1 on February 13 when FCA made an abortive attempt to start up 2dr production that month. My build appeared to be slotted for the first week of production. With the new April startup, it looks like my build will be in the third week of production. That's after I amended my order to include LEDs.

I'm inferring that LEDs are being rationed because of limited availability and hence my build coming later into production. As far as I can tell, it's not like PSTs which are not available in any number until mid May. LED builds are being scheduled, but at a slower rate meaning orders without LEDs may leapfrog you until deliveries for that part catch up.

I disagree with this. I ordered a4 door JKU as soon as they were released and it was one of the most reliable vehicles I’ve ever had. There is a LOT of speculations thrown around on here with no factual basis behind it.
Actually the statics showing jeeps quality issues have a ton of statistical facts behind it. A one up horror story in a forum is just that, as is the heart warming story about the no problem unit.

Jeeps have more issues than most other makes, and year one designs have more issues to work out on complex products. These are facts.

However like I said, the thing us 2 door guys have going for us is alot of early issues will have gotten sorted out on the 4 doors. Its likely we get a larger % of heart warming stories.

However, we are seeing rewelds, whistling tops, and units with leaks , its jsut being smart to check for those before you write that check (why the hell not?). Its not a test of loyalty, quiet the opposite, I want to see Jeep be a top quality brand and we gotta tell them we expect it and show them we mean it.
