2 DOOR JL build/order discussions master thread

Hello, we came to financials on 12/27/2017 and the order was placed 01/02/2018. Its a hardtop Sport with no bells or whistles, just limited slip and electrical. Oh, and air, my wife wanted that.

As I read on the thread, like you, really looking forward to the ride.

My dealer called yesterday and said my JL 2 door had been built and was just waiting for paint. That was good news on a Friday the 13th.

Would they not paint the vehicle first BEFORE they build it? You obviously can’t paint it on the frame or with all the parts on it. It has to be painted first and then built.

Was about to say the same thing. Watch videos on assembly and paint is done before assembly.

Paint first, this is true, the concept was more for the nay sayers (if you in the northwest you know about nay sayers) that indeed and god bless that the 2 doors are rolling down the assembly line. So yours will roll one day too, and I hope soon.

I ordered the bright white. Pretty basic color, and with the new ones coming out it yellow, green or blue would have been nice. Staying alive and seen on narrow 2 lane high speed roads

I haven’t been following your specific posts, has Jeep Chat even confirmed your VIN exists?

Hey Rubi......Since ordering 12/13/17, I check in with Jeep Chat, pm Jeep Cares, and speak with the owner of my dealership. JL sitting in D limbo, no movement for 90 days. JL Rubicon, Granite, V6, 8 speed, leather, trailer tow/HD elelctrical group, black hard top, led lighting group.
Asked dealer to clone order, anything to expedite time line after 4 months, no reply yet.

No use in cloning the order if they just started the production line...you're probably at the head of it if they're running orders by date (which remains to be seen of course).

My point is, they just started making these this past week. Maybe wait a little longer?

The LED group has been in and out of restricted state. Other than that it’s a 2 door, but it should have gone to D1 by now. I would think you would see some movement this week.

Your situation kind of worries me because I have less options; manual, LED, tow, color fenders, black hard top and Sting Gray. Mine was ordered 3/26 with a VIN receipt the next day.

How long did it take you to get a VIN?

Alright, I called Jeep to see if I could possibly change the color of my order and of course see what status I'm in. So..

Rep: Hi, how may I help you?
Me: Hi, I order a 2 door JL and like to know the status of it.
Rep: I can do that for you. What it last 8 of VIN?
Me: Gxxxxxxx
Rep: I'm not finding anything with Gxxxxxxx
Me: Sorry, Jxxxxxxx
Rep: Ok, that sounds better.
(Now without putting me on hold or a couple min wait. Just right a way.)
Rep: I can't see dates or status but parts are all gathered and being put together.
Me: Wait, it's being built??
Rep: It's on line waiting, looks like 4/12 start. So it's a couple days behind.
Me: So that means I'm in D1?
Rep: I can see status, like D, D1 or others. That is for the dealers.
Me: Ok. So it is on the production line being built?
Rep: Yes, it's on line being put together.
Me: Alright, thank you.
Rep: You're welcome, thanks for calling Jeep.

I hope this is true but my dealer told me in still in D yesterday. Maybe it takes a couple days to update the system of all the builds starting? I guess I'll just have to wait till Monday to have my dealer confirm.

Hey Rubi, I received the VIN in an email from the dealer about six days after a VON was issued. I ordered 12/13 and received A POC with all options & prices. Officially my order date is 12/19/17, when the VON was created. My dealer said Chrysler’s servers were down for six days. I had an ominous feeling this build would not be easy.
Cedxc2005, I suggested the clone idea to the owner of my dealership who is also my salesman, kind of a sign of desperation. He was going to run that past his rep. No answer yet.
