Best way to carry a surfboard with soft top?

I’ve seen plenty of people use soft racks with the soft top - even with the soft top down.

Personally, I just fold my seats down and throw my boards in the back, but I assume that’s not an option for you?

Drop the top,
Lay foam on the B and C roll bar and strap it down, couldn't be easier.

Nope I have a car seat back there.

That's cool Dan. My only concern is if, like in my locale, that gear extends more than 4' behind the rear (making it street illegal).

Another solution along a similar vein is the Darby Extend-A-Truck.

It's downside is that it requires both front and back hitches, in addition to the purchase of two Darby Extend-A-Trucks.

The OP was asking about a surfboard. it's unlikely a surfboard would surpase 4feet past the rear of the jeep. A SUP might, but that's a different problem.

Also the OP showed a JLU so the rack you listed wouldn't work anyway since I don't think even a canoe would span that distance.

Almost all states allow an excess of 4ft past rear if proper safety protocols and added.
