sadly, i just went to chat and they now have a massive error showing me in “D” status for 23 days when in fact it has been months!

Why do you think they move you to D1. You get moved to D1 so they can move you back to D and reset the counter! LOL

Update from last post of my friend who works for an FCA supplier here in Detroit. The 2 door has an issue where the body is slightly twisting after assembly. This is causing the hard top to not align correctly. Looks like this may be a stamping issue.

If this is correct information I gladly wait for my JL till they correct this issue. Least this is some solid information and not some generalizations.... might not be what we want to hear but it’s a legit answer nonetheless

My JL Rubi 2 dr hardtop, 3.6 auto -- went D1 (finally) today (3-18-18). Now hoping that does not mean they are line scheduling a full month out!

I see you are in NY. Was that pic taken in NY? I'm in NJ and would love to take a ride in my Jeep to see some scenery like that.

No Kidding, I sure hope Jeep fixes that issue. All I need is to take my 2018 Hardtop off, and then notice that it will not go back on because the side panels are warped!!! I'm curious why jeep didn't find this out earlier...hmmm, especially before they opened up the order banks.

You would think they would have noticed these issues with the extreme testing they claim the JL went through. Along with the offroad pages issue. What did they say? The JL wen through 4 million miles of testing or something.

The test beds were hand built. The most recent reports indicate problems are occurring when sending pilot 2dr vehicles through the automated portions of the full production assembly line. That's not justification for what has occurred, but it may explain how the delays have developed.

as a form of therapy while dealing with this epic delay, i've taken the time to email several autoblogs and autobloggers to request coverage of the whole FCA "new jeep launch" drama and delays.

it's not just about these screwed up 2 door manufacturing delays. it's also about JLU delays, soft top shortages and cars arriving as "dual top" with no soft top, horrible customer care (10 stories for chat agents to share), status issues (moving D to D1 and back to D, days-in-status issues (e.g. seeing "days waiting" reset from 90 to 20 and so on), miscommunication to dealers (which generates blowback on sales experience), the list goes on and on.

if any of you have interest, you oughta hammer on a few of the bigger bloggers and ask them to shine a bright light on this nonsense (all of it, across all JL/JLU). so far, i've messaged:

there are obviously many others, but that's a start. sure, it might make me look like a whiner, but i also believe that FCA is being spared a lot of attention around this issue set for no apparent reason. perhaps this will force them to tip their hands *earlier* in the process next time (for 2019 JL/JLU nonsense)

I reached out to the owner of my Jeep dealer. I’ve known him 20 years, a straight shooter. His FCA reps say this is “rubbish”. I acknowledge FCA should communicate better, an understatement, but rumors seem to develop a life of their own here on the inter web. Ordered JL Rubicon, Granite, 3.6L/8speed, hardtop, most options...12/13/17

Stoowie, he reiterated what he told me a week ago as per FCA “teleconference”. April 9th, 2 door production starts, with 4cyl. turbos leading off. That’s inexplainable to me. A pm to “Jeep Cares” asking for confirmation of this, crickets..............

Alexander: Alright Jeff, I did some research here, everything is looking fine for the vehicle, it is taking awhile in the early stage, thats true but its well within that stage.

Jeff Orchard: Did your research give any more info about the delay? There are many rumours about a delay for 2 doors. I'm concerned it may be well past the date I was hoping for delivery.

Jeff Orchard: Can you tell me my order status?

Alexander: The order is in D for 20 days

Alexander: Its long in this stage but its not outside parameters, anyone here would look at this and say the same thing. What I would recommend is to try toward the end of this week

He said it could be the stamping or its the assembly process. The company he works for is involved with every single FCA product

He is a project manager for said company, you can take it for what it's worth. They stamp the doors for every FCA product on the road so I wouldn't call it rubbish. There is an issue with the bodies and the hard tops are not aligning correctly, that is fact. I'm just relaying the info nothing more.
