Hi everyone,

@Bestop has a $200 rebate happening right now (if you didn't know) for the month of April!

I have been on a long debate between the each of there 3 Soft tops, and I just can't decide...

Just an FYI, I live in Eastern Canada, we don't get the best weather but every now and then we do get a really nice day during the summer, but also living in Canada, our CDN:USD is ridiculous... Also a note, this is for the TWILL versions.

I like the sunrider just for the fact I don't need to deal with the freedom panels anymore, I'd say last summer I took them off A LOT so this has been the most appealing so far, but, I feel like I probably would of went topless completely just as much if it wasn't such a nuisance/two person job for the hardtop, this especially coming in at around $1035(taxes in including the $200 rebate) is a fine price. Can anyone with this top confirm if its much of a nuisance or what you have to do if I went this route and decided a day I want to take the complete top off?

Trektop Soft Top comes in around $1840 (taxes including the $200 rebate) I LOVE the fastback look, and I really would like it but at the same time it is starting to get up in price, also can't decide whether or not the hard top will be too annoying to store while I have the soft top on, I am not really a fan of the fact it doesn't completely fold back (too my knowledge?), but I guess you do get the sunrider benefit with it also, but I am also getting the whole fast back look. whats everyones thoughts on this top?

And the finale, the one that will be shipping out late april is the new Trektop Ultra which is an amazing soft top, minus the fact it will cost around $2900 taxes in with the rebate.

The weather wear I live, as I said is not necessarily the best, but we do have some really nice days but basically if I wanted to go completely naked that hard top is coming off and going back on that night if we manage to get a full day of nice sun which is rather annoying, so I mainly just took the freedom panels off, but the time you gotta do to take it off, and put them back on and I always gotta carry them with me just encase it decides to rain randomly.

I think when it comes down to it, I am pretty much debating on the Sunrider and possibly a hard top lift? (Suggestions?) or should I just go with the Trektop soft top? I am not sure I really want to spend $3000 on the trek top ultra for 3 months of the year.

I thought the Trektop Ultra is just a rebranded Mopar premium softtop. Regarding the Trektop, I don't like the slanted back (aka fastback) style. I found it is too cheesy and a lot of heepers run it that way, that and the reduced cargo capacity.

Sunrider is almost a must have for anyone with hardtop.

I live in sunny Georgia,, and on the first pleasant spring day, I swap my freedom panels for my sunrider. I love how at a stop light I can toggle the top up or down. I like how I still have easy access to the rear cargo area by lifting up the rear window, and I enjoy the relative quiet of the hard top when the sunrider is down and I'm just cruising.

One more thing - When I want a more open feel if we expect a few nice days in a row, I simply take the doors off, and I'm naked as a man my age needs to be in public.

Haha yeah I thought of the sunrider but I ended up going with the trek top! I love the fast back look, and well, the sunrider feature is built in! I don' mind the noise, excited to try it out!

I can appreciate your uneasiness about the decision.

If I lived in Canada, then the Sun Rider is the way to go year round with a hardtop.

I ordered my 2020 Rubicon with a hardtop, but what a pain to permanently store it, as my Trektop Soft Top is just so fabulous!!!

I run my Trektop Soft Top year round with the back window installed for a half year in the rainy season and gone in the dry season.

I have a diabolical rear cargo cover year round and it is such a plus with the back window out when shopping at Costco.

It's kind of a no-brainier in Canada to have to wear that ugly squared-off factory hardtop, but maybe you can move?

All I can offer is, for me after owning 5 previous wranglers.... owning a jeep without being able to drop the top is just not the same experience! So the fact that the sunrider for hardtop became available is great for those that can't or don't want to remove the hardtop! Would I rather have that? no!... I like the fact that the new mopar(bestop) is able to go sunrider or safari and full down if I care to. I own a 2 dr hardtop JL and just purchased the soft top along with a rolling scaffolding to sit the hardtop on for summer months. I still have my lift installed in the garage from the last wrangler so I can take it off easily. That being said ..I did think about the sunrider for the hardtop but in the end figured the money spent would be a waste for what it is I truly enjoy so I put the money towards the full top. I looked around online and found the best price for the full top kit premium w/tinted windows.
so in short...Buy what makes you happy! you have to live with it day in day out.

Ordered it a few days ago!
Thanks!

Also, just out of curiosity, is it remotely possible to convert a regular Trektop to an Ultra? Have you guys ever looked into upgrade packages?

Love my sunrider. Open it almost everyday. Takes seconds to open and close and is so convenient compared to the freedom panels. I did take it off for 3-4 months of winter - don’t think I needed to. Takes 20-30 minutes to remove and/or reinstall.

It really is a "feel" to what you like. I had a JK with duel tops and the hard top stayed in the garage taking up space and loved the soft top going all the way down. I have a JL now and just can't seem to get a jeep without a hardtop. Got it home and three weeks later I have a new hardtop in the garage ready to sell. Needless to say I love the open feel. I just don't get that with the freedom tops or the sun rider. I love the feel and openness of all the windows and top gone (and doors - never have the bolts in), but still able to pop back up on those rainy days...or 105 degree summer days. That said the Trek Ultra was the best for me because it can open exposing all 4 seats or can "drop it down". Now here is my problem. I wish there was a rail release where you could drop it completely out of the rail system to really drop the back below the spare tire. It still sits up way too high compared with JK tops with the rails being attached...that said, I can live with it. I do think that after spending $2000 for a top, Bestop could throw in the window bag. Or just add $100 to the price and throw it in the box because the windows to scratch up a bit over use if throwing in the back.
