I’ve driven two JLU Saharahs now, one had this issue, the other did not.

In one vehicle, people noted a distracting echo of their own voice when talking to me via hands free. I believe (from memory) that this happened over Bluetooth and also when using USB/CarPlay.

I could reduce the echo by turning the volume down to 5 or lower, at which point it was very hard for me to hear the person. I could also eliminate the echo by switching to my iPhone speakerphone or normal phone mic.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m hoping it was a random issue/isolated to that vehicle... but I’m nervous that it’s related to Alpine/ANC/etc, as the vehicle that had the issue had Alpine and the issue that did not have the issue did not have Alpine.

In hopes of collecting objective data, please provide the following info:

•Phone type (iPhone, Android, etc)
•Phone OS (iOS 11, Android KitKat, etc)
•Echo over Bluetooth? (Yes/No)
•Echo over USB? (Yes/No)

My details:

•iPhone X
•iOS 11
•BT Echo - Yes
•USB Echo - Maybe (not 100% if I tested this when I had the demo)

For what it's worth, my wife said the handsfree sounded good, thus I apparently don't have the echo you speak of, in my JLUR. At least not yet!

That is great to hear. Really hoping for more responses like this!

Do you have Alpine or no?

Unfortunately I am having the echoing problem as well in my JLU Sport. I have the Alpine system.

Even turning my system down to a reasonable volum didn't help. I'm gonna adjust some others things and see if it helps, but I don't have too high hopes.

Oh bummer :( I had to get all the day down to volume 5 or less to remove the echo - which was almost inaudible.

Can you share:

•Phone type
•Phone OS
•Issues over Bluetooth?
•Issues over USB?

Galaxy S8+
Latest update Android 7
No issues over any Bluetooth besides this echo. I use BeatsX ear buds with zero sound issues
No USB issues. Have not tried plugging into vehicle yet.

So this is NOT related to the phone you’re using (at least, not isolated to an S7 or iPhone X, as both devices have reported the issue).

One person with Alpine does not have the issue, two other vehicles with Alpine did have the issue.

@Tekor, could you test to see if you still have the echo when you connect via USB and not BT?

I mentioned it to my dealership and they haven't heard about anything yet except to check back for uconnect updates. I'm gonna give it about a week then make a larger deal with them to see if they can escalate the issue.

Cool, keep us posted on if you learn more... or if you try anything new or learn anything along the way.

I wonder... if you have someone else call you from the JL using their phone, do they also get the echo?

I really am assuming this has nothing to do with the phone, but is instead related to speaker output and mic location, but it might be worth testing someone else's phone...

Going to Jeep Dealer tomorrow to let them take a look. Will post results...
Before you go I would contact Uconnect support first. Just to possibly save you a trip unless you enjoy going to your dealer. (not a joke, cool to look around while there).
