I have a 2022 JL and also have a Carlink 3.0.

Suddenly over the last week my Jeep doesn't play the audio of phone calls over the radio speakers. They can hear me, but I can't hear them. I can switch the audio device to the phone but that is less than optimal. I get the same results mostly plugged in directly not going through the carlink. It did work once plugged in but then got a device not supported message after being on the call for a very short time.

Was there some kind of Android Auto update recently?

Just spitballing here, but you tried turning up the stereo volume? My calls and Google maps directions adjust separately from the music playing, so you have to turn up the volume while the directions or call is active..

Some cars have audio settings for volume levels of phone calls at their start. Similarly they might have settings for when the car first starts. Not sure off hand if this is a Jeep option or I'm confusing with another. Might be worth your time to check audio settings as it relates to your BT.

I'm often occupied, by many things, often at the same time
It's probably a sign. Drive more, talk less?

@Mashmaster

Won't hurt, but slight chance that you may find this helps.. I've seen the process below, help for a few random issues.. The process only takes a few minutes to do.

1) Unpair your smartphone.

2) In UConnect, Smartphone Projection Manager, (see pic below) delete any and all devices listed there. (You may see more then one, even if you have only paired your smartphone)

3) Now, pair your Smartphone with your JL.

Note: After you pair your smartphone, TEST before you add/pair any other devices.

And somehow, the problem is fixed without me doing anything.... I hate when issues just resolve themselves magically...

Sometimes updates, whether it's Android Auto or even the car's software, can cause unexpected issues like this.
While checking for software updates is a good start, another solution might be exploring Bluetooth settings or resetting the connections. Also, if you're into enhancing call features, MightyCall's Call Whisper feature https://www.mightycall.com/features/call-whisper/ is pretty neat. It lets you listen in on calls, helpful for training or managing calls effectively.
