I’m a dog guy and thought I would share the dog set up in a new 2 door. The first two pictures are of my Raptor. My Malinois literally goes everywhere with me, except for the times that I make a brief stop, or he is in a bad mood.

I zip tied a typical dog barrier to the back of the front seats, see the attached link, except black.

https://www.amazon.com/COLETA-Barri...-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

The rear gate pictured is bolted (4) to existing attachment points on the body. Neither the dog barrier or gate rattle.

I then cut 3/4 inch plywood to cover the rear floor and fill in the space behind the front seat. I sprayed it with truck bed liner and attached a 1/4” diamond plate rubber pad I ordered from https://www.wearwell.com/products/diamond-plate

I removed the subwoofer to allow more storage and constructed a hinged door on the plywood for access.

I zip tied a 7” fan wired directly to the vehicle battery, red arrow in attached pic. https://www.prairielogic.com/products/7-kooler-fan

I bungeed collapsible steps to the door of the Travall for my dogs to use during entry and exit.

Lastly, I placed a custom sized Primo Pad on top of the diamond plate rubber mat.

If necessary, I can leave my dog inside the rear compartment of the Wrangler, open the rear window as well as the front windows and he will have flow thru ventilation, via fan, in comfort and not escape.

Nice setup. Spot on.
I don't think your dog needs the step to get into your Jeep though. :);) They are amazing dogs.

Thank you for posting this. I travel with my dog almost daily so I'm in the same boat. That 2 door set up is perfect for my Staffordshire Bull Terrier pup when he gets older. He's about 45 lbs right now and still a bit active in there car so the option for me was removing the back seats and anchoring plastic crate.

My old dog needed nothing more than raising the back seats and having a blankie.

Thanks for the info. We have a 160lb Great Dane and a Labrador. We currently haul them around in our Forester. Been trying to decide on my next vehicle and hauling these guys is a must.

How much of a pain is it to remove and reinstall the gate?

Edit: I just found the install instructions. Looks like it not something you want to take in and out a lot. I bet it could be simplified with thumbscrews.

Seriously, if I can do it, anyone can do it. Four bolts, four screws. No drilling required. The hardest part was running the wire from the battery to the fan. Strike the drilling part, I did drill a small hole in the compartment where the subwoofer was located. It allowed me to get the wire to the fan. I actually fit two male Mals back there, one 90 pounds, the other 66 pounds..

You’re absolutely correct, but the 6 year old has a ton of Middle East mileage and I want him to live a long quality filled life. The pounding of jumping up and down will take a huge toll on his body. The young 18 month old stud needs impulse control, which will pay off when…. not if, America goes back to the Middle East. Of course they can both leap over an 8’ high fence, but it’s not good for their body.

The first pic was taken about 6 months ago of my now 18 month old fur missile. He is always balls to the wall, never sleeps and just wants to bite stuff. In our current environment, he may not be suited for apprehension, but under different circumstances, any entry team would want him. Time will tell.
The second pic is my six year old, the love of my life. 29 squirter apprehensions, 10 of which occurred inside tunnels. 90 pounds of twisted steel.

Sorry, just reread the question. The gate itself, the part that opens and closes will just life off the hinges. There are two other parts, one on each side of the gate. Each of those parts has one bolt and two screws. The Bolt goes into an existing hole in the shell and the screws attach the bar above the gate. Hope that makes sense. I am super picky, especially about dog equipment. The thing is awesome.
