Okay….I get it now lol. Moab is certainly the Mecca for off Roading. What an incredible experience and something that absolutely changed my wife and my life.
We left at 4:30 in the morning and took 2 1/2 days to get out there. It was my first time going out west in any sort of vehicle and it was incredible.
The Jeep ran well for the most part after 14 hours of driving going through Missouri, Kansas all of those super windy places motor temperatures were up around 222 but stayed consistently there and from what I’ve read online that is warm but still safe for the JL’s.
First time going over the Rockies and this is when I ran into a little snag. It was so incredibly beautiful seeing those mountains the elk the snow it was just breathtaking and doing that I found myself after a 14 hour day of driving doing 30 miles an hour than 80 miles an hour because I realized I was doing 30 miles an hour looking at everything lol. Upon approaching Eisenhower tunnel at the top, I started getting a dinging and looked down and my motor temperature was at 270! As soon as I got out of the tunnel, I pulled over popped my hood turn the car off and antifreeze was just pouring out of the reservoir due to overheating. I let the Jeep cool down and as soon as we got back on the road, we got smacked with a huge snowstorm. I grew up in the Catskill Mountains of New York and I had not experienced a white out like this in my life! I could not see anything it was pretty sketchy, but we made it to the hotel And I topped off on antifreeze in the morning.
Next day, we woke up early and made it to Moab in the early afternoon we got checked in and hit the town and relax a little bit for a good day of wheeling the next few days.
The whole reason we were going out there is because my wife was an ambassador for the Ineos Grenadier, and she was a part of the Grenadier women’s off-road clinic they were putting on, so luckily I got to tag along with the Jeep. The next morning we woke up and she did her women’s clinic thing and I sat out with a large group of grenadier to hit 7 mile rim. It was incredible! Day after that was a portion of fins and things and a portion of Hell’s revenge since we were with a group, we didn’t get to hit some of the larger obstacles, which was a bummer but getting a taste was incredible! The day after that, I sat out on my own into the steel bender with my brother-in-law, daughter and son. At the top of the steel bender loop we had a storm come in and it was raining and hailing on us. I forgot to mention I had no doors no roof wheeling all weekend so it was awesome except for that part lol
All in all, this was just an incredible trip beyond incredible! We can’t wait to go back again!
If you’ve been out there or if you wheeled, you know the pictures never do anything justice, but I’ll add them anyway because what good as a post without pictures
Now the task is oil change air filter, paint a little bit of a rock rash on the skid plates, so it doesn’t rust and figure out how to get this red Moab dust out of every crevice of my Jeep lol
