Is it just me or does it kind of look like a Honda ridgeline lol. No thanks. To each their own though.

It really does.

Tough to get one of these things when Tacoma exists.

The 'mid size' truck market baffles me. These manufacturers keep building taller, more bloated decked out full size trucks (with 900 lb payload) and then decide they need to offer a 'midsize' bloated truck with 900 lbs payload and charge more for it.

To each their own, but given the choice I'd never again buy a mid sized truck (and I've owned most of them at one point)

GM hit it out of the park with the latest generation Colorado/Canyon. Nice trucks, modern but timeless. Not everyone likes the only engine choice (4 cylinder) but they really can't argue with the 430lb-ft torque the 2.7 puts out. It's a darn good engine, and the ZR2 offers decent trial chops.

Will be interesting to see what RAM chooses for an engine(s).

I was given an '03 Dakota 4.7/5-speed 4x4 a while back and used it for a few years. It was a good truck, but the 4.7 was a total slouch.
I bought one of the very first 2024 Colorados with the new 2.7. Back then you had 3 power levels to choose from on this engine, I got a work truck trim with the mid-power option and it was no slouch.

Two things ruined that truck for me. The GM 8 speed transmission was horrible, never seemed to be in the right gear, even after 5000 miles it seemed like it was still trying to learn what it meant to be a transmission, always skipping gears then realizing it messed up and shifting again to a different gear. Every once in a while, at highway speed, on flat ground, in cruise control, it would drop from 8th to 4th gear and the engine would scream for about 5 seconds, then it would go back to 8th like nothing happened. My wife was scared to drive it.

The other insufferable thing (that ultimately made me dump it) was the absolutely unusable infotainment system. I bought mine about a week before GM issued a stop sale on them, and my truck went back to the dealer 5 times for the center screen going out, the dash cluster speedometer would get stuck at 34 MPH sometimes for the whole trip to the airport from my house. The headlights would not come on, either on auto mode or through the touchscreen (yup, no headlight switch on these anymore) It had a habit of disconnecting car play, picking some random AM radio station and blasting the volume at 11, then the volume knob wouldn't respond. I ended up disconnecting my phone from it and using a JBL portable speaker.

My local Chevy dealer gave me a good deal on trade in on a 3500 because it was to the point they knew I was going to ask for them to lemon it.

That was my thought, too. This does not look like a US truck, midsize or not. Really don't care for the more generic look to it. Will have to see the US version in person properly built out, but at first blush this would be a pass for me if I were looking in this category.

Will have to see how it does. if I bought a mid-size truck for over-landing, it is hard to beat the Tacoma or Gladiator.

Let me guess, $75,000 to get anything worthwhile on it..

Jeep Wrangler JL 2027-2028 RAM DAKOTA midsize pickup revealed! 1000015085

Yeah, I'm good. Give me a standard cab with a long bed and we'll talk. What's the point of getting a pickup truck with a 5-ft bed anyways? You can't even carry plywood without that thing sticking out the back. :headbang: :swear:

I swear I’m looking at a Japanese knockoff. Why do they have to make it look like another brands model instead of making their own unique model?

The 5 foot bed shows they are designing it for carrying people, not cargo. Which means the original intent was to get around regulations for 4 door sedans.

An emasculated pickup or a manly minivan, depending on your point of view… :CWL:

🤮 Honda called... they want their styling back. Give them the motor too while you're at it, Ram.
