Hello all! I just picked up the Wolfbox G900 which I am pretty excited about. I was wondering, however, if anybody else has installed an additional rear camera on their wrangler and if so, where? I saw a guy on the internets say that the best place for him was inside at the top of his back window. I am guessing, however, that his did not come with window tint. I have also looked at some interesting brackets that basically bolt in behind the spare tire but I am worried that it wouldn't be able to see past the spare tire, especially with 37" tires.

Anybody have some success with this?

Thanks!

Great question to which I also am interested in the answers. I don't have a dash-cam yet and am still shopping around. I also like the idea of having the rear-facing camera in a non-rearview mirror setup. I mostly want it for the parking-monitor recording.

Since the top's more than likely going to come off all summer, where would that cam go? I was thinking it might have to go on the roll bar. I'm afraid the rollbar is too low-profile and the camera won't be able to see out the back window. For those with the rearview mirror setups that'd be useless and for everyone else less than ideal. It's still an idea and I'll be investigating that over the next few months while I shop for the ideal camera as well.

If I come up with something that just works I'll be sure to follow up.

I am actually going to install this camera this weekend. My first thought is going with just inside the back window. I have a sky one touch top so I don't ever take my top off.

I purchased the Wolfbox G900 and installed yesterday. I have attached my rear cam to the roll bar. I may lower it a little more so can see more distance in the rear but this video gives you an idea from this location. I was going to mount it like @wibornz outside but wanted to try something different inside and see. I have it mounted to the top of the roll bar, so there's plenty of room to lower it in my case.

Question: Do you have the ACC box in the windshield? I'd be curious to know how your view is on the recordings. For me, my ACC box is in the shot sadly.

I have two rear facing cameras. One is my backup camera mounted in my spare tire license plate bracket and the second one is an Auto Vox V5 Pro (rear view video mirror) with the camera mounted on top of the 3rd brake light using 3M double-sided tape. I’ve had it mounted there for almost a year now.
Here’s a picture of my setup.

If I have them in the right order, this 1st one will show you where mine are mounted. Sort of tough to see the one in the back because of how dark it is.

This next shows the actual driving view of both. These are Garmin Minis. I can isolate each camera or do a pic-in-pic as you see here.

The last shows just the rear view whilst driving.

Curious: are your intentions with this camera for visibility, recording motorist and/or momentous driving, both or something else?

To answer your question, here's where I installed the rear portion of my dash camera on the Sports Bar. Good old bungee balls and zip ties allow me to not make marks and allow for ease of removal/repositioning:

But if visibility is your reason for buying this product, not recording, maybe you should return the Wolfbox for (if you don't already own one) a JL Tazer Mini, which can display the factory rear camera's image beyond the 5 second or so factory built in time limit, in addition of course to providing you with some other pretty cool functionality.

My intention was to maintain visibility even with a 37" tire hanging off the back and plumb full of overlanding gear.

I ended up mounting the camera at the top of the rear window, basically gluing a velcro strip to the top. This has worked out super well, I get excellent visibility behind me, far more than the mirror ever did and so much more than the factory rear view camera. That thing is fine for backing up but is really not a great camera.

Nice! How are you liking the set up? My third brake light isn't there anymore, it's just above the factory camera as I have a new teraflex spare tire mounting system installed now.

I love it so far. Only is I have the backup camera at bottom mounted upside down in the housing. So I’ll need to take it apart and flip it. Other than that everything thing is working fine. I love the wide-angle view and night visibility of the Auto Vox. It really cover most of the blind spot areas.
