Wiring Splice Kit for what?

This was in the back of the Willys when I picked it up from the dealer this week.
Mopar part number search indicates "Wiringkit Splice."
Any ideas?
Is this routine? Was something not spliced? Were these pieces not needed? Should I hold onto these?

This is heat shrink tubing you get with the aux gauges. Can be used either when connecting to wires in the engine bay or passenger footwell.
