I read that article separately. The title (inevitably I suppose) is rather click-baity.

The point is that it's possible to do a re-think of how autos are designed and manufactured so as not to use the increasingly complex and numerous wiring harnesses that we're all deeply familiar with, and instead create a bus-architecture set of non-flexible components that are integrally installed during unibody assembly.

Doing this, however, requires a fairly radical re-think of how the auto is both designed, and manufactured. So it's not going to have any impact at all on current-generation autos.

Circling back to supply chain issues - the author makes a fairly tenuous point that current shortages may prove durable and persistent, and thus accelerate the move towards completely next-gen designs.

We can speculate about that until the cows come home, but it's more of an "off topic, futuristic, what may come" topic than really something relevant to those ordering today, or this year, or FY23.
