I want to start a thread that will focus on winterizing the wrangler. Please post any tips, things you've done or are planning on doing to your jeep specifically to deal with the winter season. Hoping we can all learn and help each other out!

I am especially interested in keeping the soft top and windows in good shape with ice and snow, so I would definitely appreciate any tips.

I will not be participating in this forum as of 8/31/2018. It's been a fun ride, but it's time to move on. Take care. - Dustin

Here are a few tips:
- I suggest slightly airing down your tires if you get snow often.

- Add 303 to your soft top.
- I spray Amsoil’s metal protector on the bottom of my vehicles when I purchase them new and then every year after that. Avoid braking components and exhaust components.
- lithium grease on the weather striping
- a good coat of wax

Good stuff right here, have you used Amsoil on previous vehicles?
I have never heard of putting silicone spray on the weather striping, could you explain the reasoning for this?

Keeps it supple. Rubbing in dielectric silicone grease does same thing.

Great idea on spraying the underneath metal components. I’ll be using 303 on my fenders and bumper. And a very solid coat of wax.

Not so much worried about the snow in the Chicago area, more so the chemicals they use to keep it off the streets.

Yes, I have used the Amsoil heavy duty metal protector on several of my vehicles. It keeps the undercarriage looking nice. The key is to do it right when you purchase the car so the undercarriage is fairly clean. Then I just spray off the undercarriage really good when I respray the next year or two.

The sillcone spray helps keep weather striping flexible and not turn brittle.

Is the Amsoil somtbing I might want to consider getting done professionally when I get my vehicle? I’m planning on keeping it forever so I want to do everything I can to keep her mint.

Is getting a wax done as soon as I get it a bad idea? I wanna say I’ve read tour supposed to wait on getting a wax. Not sure tho
