I found very limited information regarding windshield protection films. Has anyone applied it on the JL? Would it prevent windshield cracking?

Did you put the film on?
No, but if there is a film that works, that’s be great to know about. I heard people mention gorilla glass but not sure if that’s out yet either.

there are some post regarding this. i cant recall the pros and cons of em or its recommended or not. the best way to protect the windshield is to keep a far distance from vehicles, and bigger trucks that can kick up debris. also look into your auto insurance to see about glass coverage. i pay something like $3 for full glass coverage.

Yup, best to give a lot of distance from larger vehicles that can kick up debris and dump trucks.

Don’t curse it by mentioning your coverage and duration ;)

Thanks for the tips! I remember my insurance company only has comprehensive instead of glass only coverage. Are you in the U.S.? Which insurance company are you using?

New to know that you can buy that from the dealer! I am not sure if my dealer has it. May I know how much did you pay and what are the terms?

I usually never buy additional insurance policies for glass but the extremely fragile JL windshields have me considering it if there is such a thing in IL.

Insurance is State regulated. I could not find a glass specific policy from Zurich or another 3rd party insurance company in IL. In IL comprehensive coverage seems to be the norm. Make sure you have a low deductible.

I am using Geico and am not carrying comprehensive as for now. Since I do not worry too much about being stolen, etc. I don't really want to buy comprehensive just for windshields. Also the deductible that comes with comprehensive is pretty high imo. Are you also living in IL?

I live in Chicago. I see you are in Chicago also. Living in Chicago, I can't believe you don't have comprehensive! It's not very expensive, even with a very low deductible.

I live in Chicago as well. But I just got here last year. May I know why would you say comprehensive is a must when living in Chicago?
