Windshield options

I tried searching the threads but couldn’t find an answer to my questions. First, insurance. I spoke to mine a few weeks ago (Progressing, Louisiana) and they said they do not cover windshield under the normal insurance but can do a windshield only coverage for about $250 every six months. Obviously, I am not doing that. Plus they said it would show as a claim and increase my insurance overall. So does any of that make sense?

Second, what other options besides the acoustic windshield do we have. I am assuming I will have a lot of cracks over the years. I replaced my JK once for a couple hundred dollars.
