they look rather bulky for carrying around in a 2 door so I can drop the windshield when the mood strikes. Has anyone else made (or come up with) a different solution that takes up less space?
No offense, but they're bulky? They are about a 6 inches "L" shape. They fit in the glove box and nothing fits in there.

Not very bulky to me. Why take a chance for 30 bucks to break your windshield .

I store mine in the webbing behind the front seats, take up 0 room in my 2-door. There isn't another option at the moment other than Mopar's which are quite easy to use, I'd buy them again.

I completely forgot (did I ever know?) about the webbing behind the seats. I was about to say something like "yeah, got the molle seat backs though.." when I googled and saw a picture and then went to my garage. Look at that! a handy storage pocket!! I'm an idiot
So, if you have the molle straps, you could get a little pouch and store it in a molle bag

heh none taken. You're a 4 door guy I take it? I'm coming from a TJ where the windshield hold down was a simple cinch strap that took up very little room and had multiple uses. The glove box or center console is the only place I can think to store these (vs wrapped around the sport bar) when not in use. I probably am being dumb but if someone had a simple cinch strap solution I'd be happier.
This is my second four door Jeep, I've owned four other 2 doors previously (CJ,YJ, (2) TJ) and I don't think these tie downs would have been too bulky, to store in any of them.
