Winch Weight on Suspension

I just bought a winch yesterday and was checking wiring routing prior to install. I set the Smittybilt winch with synthetic cable on my jeep Barricade bumper. The added weight cost me a full 1/4 inch after measuring.

I do have Rubicon 33 wheels/Shocks on my JLU Sport but everything else is OEM.

Yep, weight compresses springs. I'm sure your bumper caused more compression than the winch though. I don't think the loss of 1/4" is much of a worry in the long run.

Btw- aftermarket suspension companies consider fully loaded rigs when spacing their lifts. So a completely stock rig will sit higher than specified lift height.

I lost about 1/8" when I installed my Warn Elite Stubby and Warn VR8-S winch... Not bad all things considered. I have since added a Rough Country .75" front spacer leveling kit to not only balance out what I lost but also raise the front up a bit more.

Before adding bumper and winch: About 32 15/16"

After adding bumper and winch (but before .75" leveling kit was added): About 32 13/16"

After bumper, winch and front leveling kit added: About 33 1/2"
