Is 1,000 pounds of payload going to squat down the OEM suspension of my JLU Sahara a bit too much? I see the JLUS has a payload rating of 1,265 pounds.

I would just load it up and check, but I am ordering a lot of these parts now, and first trip is in a few weeks, so if I need suspension, I’d prefer to address it now, and schedule someone to install it before the trip.

Jeep will be my daily driver. Occasional camping duty. No rock crawling. Just pavement and dirt roads.

On camping trips, I’m estimating we’ll be hauling about 1,000 pounds after factoring in two people, roof top tent, roof rack, fridge, food, water, all gear, etc. As my daily driver, the payload would be more like 400-500 pounds.

Questions:

If a suspension upgrade is recommended, what’s the least expensive way to keep the vehicle from squatting? Not really looking to lift vehicle - but maybe I need to in order to get the added travel I need to handle more weight?

Would upgrading to someone’s Rubi take-off suspension help?

Could I just install heavier rated springs?

You have to add the tongue weight of the loaded trailer to your total payload that is bearing down on your Jeep. If you're max payload is 1265lbs and you've got 1000lbs of people, fuel, and gear on your Jeep, then the tongue weight of your trailer should never exceed 265lbs.

So consider moving some gear of the Jeep and onto the trailer. You can distribute the weight on the trailer to reduce the tongue weight. Beyond that, as Biscuit correctly stated, you need to insure you don't exceed the GCVWR of 10836lbs.

Good point. But no trailer for me, so it’s just the GVWR to focus on. But I could always get a trailer. Just think of all the additional gear I could buy/haul!!! Somehow I don’t think my wife would see the humor in that.
