Why so few Shocks only adjust compression and not rebound?

I've noticed that almost all of the adjustable shocks only allow for compression- King, Fox, Icon- all only adjust compression. the ARB BP-51s are the only ones I found that adjust compression and rebound.

Any thoughts as to why? As I understand it, compression is down travel and rebound is up- I would think it would be equally important to be able to adjust that.

Rebound needs to be tuned to spring rate and it is generally not changing. Compression needs to be tuned to the terrain, which changes. Most compression adjusters only adjust high-speed compression though.

That's good insight, thanks!

I've heard single adjustable shocks tend to jack up. What's that about ?
I'm not sure what you mean by "jack up", but, I'd be willing to bet most of the time when people are adjusting their high-speed compression adjusters, what they are really wanting to firm up is low-speed compression instead, so overdo it on the high-speed compression and run into other issues.
