When my A/C or heat is on, there is a whistling coming from the blower fan/motor. I originally thought something was stuck in the vents, but after some investigating, I believe it's the fan itself. I have nothing clipped to the vents, nor have I dropped anything down there. A few months ago when it started, it was an on and off occurrence. Now, it's all the time when the fan is on. No matter what temperature, no matter what direction its facing, no matter if recirculation is on or off, even if the air filter is removed, all I hear is that whistle. And yes, this happened with the factory cabin air filter AND with the new filter I put in.

I was thinking either the blower motor needs to be replaced, or something is stuck in it, but I couldn't tell if anything was.

I asked the dealer and they had no idea what it could be, then said they could find out, for the the low low price of $3,000. Yea, no. I asked Facebook, but the answers led me nowhere.

What could this be and how could I fix it? I appreciate all of your help.

What could this be? Its very noticeable (in person) and annoying.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I need to become a mobile mechanic. Like buy me a plane ticket and my hotel, and I will fly out and fix a Jeep...... $3000 can get a lot done. Mine makes some noise, but I have done some big water crossings and forgot to switch the system or to recirculate and when water goes over the hood with the fan on it will blow water out of the vents.

Yes, my hearing is crappy. However, all I hear is air noise. I suggest running at fan speed 3 or less and turning the vents to Hi/Lo which will split the air between the dash and the floor. There will be an arrow indicating this. Maybe this will quiet things down. Note: While pushing buttons in the first video the system doesn't react that fast. 5-15 seconds between modes.

I think I remember a thread where @roaniecowpony replaced his hvac blower motor. Maybe he has some insight.

Mine would have a sound like a whistle. Turns out it was the bearings squeaking.

I bought a TYC brand aftermarket fan and installed it. Nada, nothing. It didn't run. I pulled it out and tried several things. Still nothing. I sent it back with a description of the issue. I though it was an anomoly, so I found another source of TYC and bought another. Dead on arrival. Back it went. I ended up buying a Mopar fan.

Other than being a contortionist to get under the dash, how difficult was the swap?

One connector and 3 screws. 5 minute job. Seems like those are 7 or 8mm hex heads.
