I am considering putting one of these tires on my JLU that is lifted 2" with BDS. Which one do you like better and why?

A) Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/70R18 (this is a 34.29” tire by 11.77” wide).

B) Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.5R18

Just ask @cosine he knows!
What wheels are they going on? If they are the stock wheels and you won't be running any wheel spacers I'd go w/ the narrower 295s to give you a bit more inner clearance. Also if only one of those is available in a C-rated, I would pick the C rated version.

They will be going on stock wheels and I will be using wheel spacers.
The 295's are E rated and the 35" are F rated.
Thoughts?

I run 295/70/17 E rated on my 2dr, I don't mind the ride, but it will firm it up a bit. F-rated would be a no go I think, are you sure they don't have those tires in lower load ratings??

Could you post a picture of your jeep please!? I would love to see what the tires look like.

The Nitto in size 35" is F rated but you can get a KO@ 35" in E rated.

I just think the 12.5" width might look too wide...that is why I am looking at the 295/70R18. Either would be fine for clearance issues.

Stock, w/ 17x8.5 +10 offset, and w/ Rubicon suspension, and a side pic of the fit at the fender edge (before the Rubicon lift)

Those tires look real good! Are they roughly 11.5" wide? For some reason the back ones look wider than the front. Probably just an illusion? Can you post a picture with something in front of the width of the tire so we can have a point of reference of how wide they look in person?

I am debating if going with this size width vs a 12.5" is best...in person the 12.5" just looks REALLY wide.

Thanks for the pictures - very helpful!!

Don't have time for pics right now, but just measured the widest part of the tire at the sidewalls and they measure right at 11.5". I'll check a bit and see what 18" tires are out there at a lower load rating, might give you a better group to choose from :)

Is there a reason you chose a 11.5" wide tire vs a 12.5"?

I prefer to keep the tires as close to the fender as possible while still having enough footprint to work well off road. I like wide tires but the 295 is just about right for this particular setup/

My 74 CJ5 ran 14x35x15 tires back in the day and loved that wide footprint, but that was a different time lol.

Might also look at a 285/75/18, they are almost 35" tall, and have a decent selection
