I looked up the specs for the Motiv 427 and the 17x9 - 5" backspace (this equals 0 offset) does use a dual drill bolt pattern (5-114.3/127) which means it has 10 lug holes. The wheel will just need to be rotated to the correct bolt pattern during installation.

The center cap for this wheel covers all 10 lug holes once tightened down. The center bore is larger than the Jl hub pilot, which as mentioned is 71.5mm, though there are hub centric rings to convert it to hub centric (78-71.5).

For reference, here's how far out the 17x9 0 offset Motive sits in comparison to the factory wheel. If you take a tape measure and measure from the front lip of the factory wheel outwards 2-1/2 inches, this will be the point of where the front lip of the 427 sits

Thank very much for the info. I love the motive wheel I picked, however I have been told to shy away from anything that is not hub centric and none of Motiv wheels are hub centric, except one 8 lug monster. Yes I know the ring lines thing up so they fit, but my understanding is, it's still not actually hub centric when using the rings and the wheel may be week. Don't know enough to make a decision on weather to use a wheel with rings, or stick strictly to a true hub centric wheel.

So I went looking at other wheels and didn't find anything I really wanted. Also I didn't find any wheel stores that let you filter for only hub centric wheels. May do some more research.

Right now even more confused about even the tires. Currently leaning towards the falken wildpeak a/t3s.

Thanks again though, still working on it.

Happy to help Darryl!

You'll find that a lot of aftermarket wheels are not hub centric, also know as lug centric. This is intentional by manufacturers to limit the amount of molds needed to fit multiple vehicle applications. This is where hub centric rings come into play, though technically hub centric rings are not needed. Here's an article that goes into greater details if you're interested.

Thanks again for the info. I had just finished checking things out when you replied.

Sounds like you should be ok using hub centric rings, probably metal would be best. Just have to know they are in place, and installed and torqued correct.

Except maybe in the most extreme cases. Like maybe running much bigger wheels and tires and then doing some pretty rough off roading/ racing. For the off roading we do, I think we would be ok, and only going up to the 285/70/17 size tire.

I will advise.

Regards Darryl

Rocktrix wheels are used by a lot of folks around here, they are pretty light, hubcentric, come in bronze & gunmetal for some styles, and have offsets that are typically pretty good for JLs. Maybe there's a style you like ???

Thanks brother. I have looked at the rocktrix. Nice wheels for the 💰.

If I go the wheel route, still the biggest issue would be getting rid of my OEM wheels.

Shouldn't be too much trouble since you're in close proximity to larger cities. Might post a sale thread on the site to see if you can find a buyer in your area.

Well, finally decided. It's a little exhausting when you don't have that much experience with wheels and tires for a wrangler. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with suggestions and advice.

First I decided to wait on new wheels. Hopefully down the road there is a full lift in my future and this seems like the best time to get new wheels.

So after a lot of research, help from Discount Tire, big shout out to them, and members on here tomorrow I get 5 new Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws put on with a new lug nut set, cause we all know the stock lug nuts are pretty sucky.

I was looking at a little cheaper tires but then spoke to Discount Tire and they gave me a good deal. So for just a little more I got into some Wildpeak's which from what I read and reviews are a pretty dam good tire.

So thanks again to all who helped with advice and suggestions.

Will post tomorrow after install.

Glad you got hooked up from @Discount Tire those Wildpeaks are a quality tire and should check all the boxes on your list. Look forward to hearing how you like them when you get some time w/ them. Good call on waiting on the wheels.

Just a quick review for the on road first impressions. It's an hour and a half drive over to the Discount Tire store in Alcoha TN, around 60 miles so I got a little time in, on the way back.

My OEM BFG M/Ts. Nothing wrong with them, I liked them. Beefy look and pretty good in every terrain I have put them in, except wet condition. Never were that good even when new, but they were M/Ts. They are pretty loud at highway speeds also, however it never bothered me but I would not recommend them to anyone wanting a smooth quiet ride.

The new Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. I'am going to say this right off the bat. You really can't compare these 2 tires on the road. They are night and day difference. The Wildpeak's ride like a Cadillac, seriously. It's mostly back roads over to the store with the highest speed being 55. One area of smooth road I was able to get up to 75 for half a mile or so. Man these tires were like riding on glass. Unbelievable how smooth they are. And noise, what noise.

I think there going to be really nice for all the traveling we're going to do. As far as off road, no experience yet. But if you just look at the tires and how well they perform on road I can't see them being poor performers off road.

Will try to post again once I get a little more time both on and off road with them.

Thanks again.

Crap, it's been a long day. I completely forgot to mention that I do like the look of my jeep better also, and post a few pic.s. always good when you love your jeep even more after a change.

Also I do like the black lug nuts look a lot better. I may still change these down the road, they kinda stick out a little more than I would like but the all black for sure looks better.

Short update after getting these tires.

Went down old buzzard roost road the other day. It's not a difficult road, we went down the whole thing last year. However there is some pretty step grades and you can get a feel for your tires and if they grab good or slip around a lot.

In the beginning there is 2 small not real difficult water crossing's. There was a small group already there videoing each other so we skipped it.

Maybe a quarter or so down I took a wrong turn. The road forks and I went left instead of staying right. Turns out this is a rarely used fire road I think Google called it ranch or range road, I forget. Anyway it is considerably more difficult than old buzzard is.

I was ok with because it's not the most difficult thing I have done. The wife however gets a little scared, not yet knowing the jeeps capabilities.

Truth, it wasn't much of a challenge for the jeep as long as you chose the right line. We eventually made it through and out.

Point, the Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws did not falter at all, a lot of it was muddy and wet and they preformed excellent. They for sure grabbed better on the gravel part of the road than the M/Ts did.

Also today it rained all day and I had a chance to get out for about 20 miles. Again the Wildpeak's performed excellent, better than M/Ts in the rain.

Pretty happy, seem to be very good A/T tires.

Thanks.

Sorry for the untimely reply!

Sounds like a pretty intense day on the trail. I am excited to hear that the Falken's exceeded expectations for you.

Thank you for the update. Stay safe.
