I picked up a Rubicon Wrangler 4xe from the Phoenix airport today. I will be in the Sedona/Flagstaff area for a couple of days. Wondering if there is any protocol for wheeling in a rental.

Also, any good easy to moderate scenic trails to recommend in this area?

Trails offroad lists several. How hard was it to get a rubicon for a rental?

If your insurance is current this is where the saying "drive it like you stole it" came from!

If the local business's in Sedona are anything like they were 2 decades ago they’ll tell you the trails are for Pink Jeep Tours only, even the AZ gov. information centre told me we weren’t allowed on any trails with my own Jeep due to an agreement the Pink Jeeps had with the forestry service.
I drove across the road to the forestry office and guy just laughed and said they are just trying to sell us something and the trails are open to anybody.
We did get major stink-eye from about half the Jeep tour guides we met on the trail though, some of them were so mad they wouldn’t even make eye contact with us.

I dropped off the teen group that I was a chaperone for their missions trip to the Navajo reservation at 4:00 am. I then wandered around the deserted rental car area with my 13 year old daughter until I found someone alive. A very nice lady with National pulled up my reservation and said pick any vehicle on the lot I wanted. So I walked around and couldn’t think of anything I wanted to drive more.

As a follow up from my original post I don’t think I will be venturing too far off the pavement. I had a puncture in my drivers side rear tire, so now I am running without a spare. Don’t know what I hit, but I wonder if the tires being inflated to 40 psi had anything to do with it.
