I’ve found a lot of people haven’t gotten their recall notice about their faulty sarcasm detector.:giggle:
Not faulty, just needs the fuse to be set properly... ;)

Your comment that a 5 tire rotation on Wrangler's brought into the dealership service department is unusual, is correct.

MOST that have the dealer do the tire rotation get front to rear rotation.

I might add that a large portion of guys doing their own tire rotations just do front to rear rotation. There are many that never rotate their tires.

As for me, I'm a front to rear rotation guy....

5 tire roatation may be unusual, but it should be the norm for any Wrangler owner.

Just confirmed today that it's up to the individual dealer on whether they will provide a loaner (it's not guaranteed). Jeep Wave will only reimburse (up to) $35 if your vehicle will be in the dealership for 24hrs. Their literature it really misleading and the sales people perpetuate the misunderstanding of the benefits of this program. Knowing the truth, it doesn't seem worth it when it comes time to pay for the membership.

These were just taken from the Jeep Wave website...

It appears that the rental is only eligible for same day repair/service. NOT for anything overnight... still confused based on other people’s input of the opposite.

FCA and the dealerships need to get on the same page with all this stuff. It was a nice perk to think I will have a loaner/rental when going in for service. Why offer that as part of the purchase and dealerships don’t know about or honor it?:punch:

It's completely normal to do 5 tire rotations with matching spares. Anyone that says otherwise is just ignorant. NOBODY on a Wrangler forum should be against 5 tire rotations.
If you start with 5 brand new tires and drive on 4 of them for 10k miles, then do a routine maintenance with tire rotation, as the manufacturer recommends, the 5th tire with no wear has likely 2/32nds or more tread depth than the other 4 tires. When you put the 5th tire on, the vehicle will "push" because it has a larger circumference of the other tires. If you are going to do a rotation every 5k, then a 5th tire rotation would make more since because the wear would be much less.

An oil change and tire rotation... 45 minutes tops, and you need a loaner?

Re: rotation, I do not want a new tire and 3 older tires on my vehicle at the same time. It's called a SPARE for a reason.

Always rotate every 5k, only takes 15 mins and $20 tops if paying someone.

Yeah... I agree. Oil should be every 3-5k too.

5 tire rotations suck on JL because 1) it requires the spare to be removed before the tech lifts the vehicle in the air 2) it requires the tech to locate the lug key to remove the security lug that is apparently now standard equipment and 3) the backup camera has to be partially disassembled.

In short, it adds time to the job, and time is money. I don't blame them for not really wanting to do it.

That's why I do mine myself. A $50 floor jack and tire iron and you can rotate your own tires in 15 minutes at home with no wait at a dealership.
Doesn't the second bolded part offset the first? They can rotate tires waaaay faster than I can because they have a lift. Get that sucker lifted up 6" and tire rotations should be a snap. "Dissasembling" the rear camera is literally turning a screw a 1/4 turn and slipping off a plastic shroud, a total non-event.

FWIW, I came from driving an Acura, which is supposedly a "luxury car" and I never got a loaner for routine maintenance either. Got it for warranty work or longer maintenance (brakes, AT fluid, etc) but not just the basics. I wouldn't expect it from Jeep. For warranty work, sure, but for a quick tire rotation and oil change, you can go sit in the bro'd out Rubicon or the luxed up Ram on the showroom floor and make vroom vroom noises for 45 minutes.
