I agree definitely. I appreciate that ford on the bronco bothered to make the base model steelies look halfway decent. My father has an 07 black tundra sr5 with regular cab and 6.5” bed with the silver painted steel wheels and they actually look really good on it.Good-looking factory steel wheel designs really went into decline after the 70s and 80s. I still believe that GM's classic and classy Rallye wheels were the high water mark.
Modern steel wheel designs, to the extent that they're still around on some trims, seem to be purposefully unattractive. It is, in my view, a sly attempt by the OEMs to convince the consumer to purchase the next higher trim, if only to pivot to an alloy wheel selection (some of which have certainly no claim on beauty themselves).
I say this as someone who loves his Sport, but thinks the black steel wheels look like four spares.
Twice now have I replied to sellers in the Member Marketplace, wanting to buy their alloy wheel sets, only for them to never revisit their own thread, or even this site, after posting the ad.And so the wait continues.
wish I knew you were looking for non sport wheels months ago, I would have sold you my rubicon wheels. So many weirdos locally begging me for them for like $200
