Does anyone know if you can use wheel shims. I want to move my tires out a little. I know they are less than 1/2.

Wheel shims? Do you mean wheel spacers? If so, I would not use the thin plate ones that use the stock lug nuts.

Reputable wheel spacers such as Spidertrax and Synergy a solid choice. However they come in 1.75 and 1 5/8 sizes for the JL.

So you’re saying not to use these? I only need a little push out.

I’ve never seen those type of spacers, but I’m paranoid and wouldn’t use anything other than well known spacers (i.e. Spydertrax). If your looking to move the wheels just a bit out from stock, you can look at the AEV JL specific wheels such as Pintlers. They have about a 5.75 bs as I recall. There may be other wheels brands that have a similar bs.

Yes these are what I am speaking off. They are basically a thin plate that gives you a little extra room. These use your stock bolts and lug nuts. This reduces the amount of the bolt that goes into the lug nut. Could lead to a failed bolt or nut.

They are fine, and used in drag racing to fit wider tires. So, they hold up fine. I would not go any wider than 5mm though. You need a minimum amount of thread contact between the stud and nut.

When I looked into spacers many of the local tire shops would not sell them as well all those said they would not even work on a wheels/tires that had them. I assume it is a liability thing/

Any modification you do to your vehicle is a liability.
