Hey!

My rubi takeoff KO2s are almost racing slicks and I plan to change them out in the coming weeks. I don't have a ton of extra cash to drop on new tires at the moment but I do still have the bridgestone dueler ATs that came with the jeep. I found marketplace listing for 4 wildpeak AT3Ws dated 12/21 that show close to 11/32 on one, about 9.5 on two others and just below 9/32 on the 4th with a little cracking around the outer tread on the most worn tire (picture included). Would you take the gamble on these used At3ws or stick with the old bridgestones for the time being. No heavy wheeling or anything like that but will see some new england snow through the winter.

I know it's a loaded question, I prefer having "real" ATs over the bridgestones but honestly the cracking around the tread on the one tire makes me question how much I'd actually get out of them. the other tires seem have much less checking but it is still noticeable in the photos. For what it's worth I'm not sure the exact DOT code on the duelers off hand but my wrangler is a '21 so I'm assuming they are about the same age as these AT3ws in question if not a year older.

TIA

Falkens last forever. Just got 75k out of a set of 295/70R18s on a F-250 diesel. Then went to the A/T4W and they were wearing and performing just as well. Can't hardly beat a Falken tire.

This is another subject that people have very strong opinions about. I've utilized used tires for a long time now and it's been a fantastic moneysaver for me. I just pick up a set (sometimes one at a time) of used "takeoffs" (so 99% full tread) when my existing tires are at like 50-60% tread, swap them out, then FB marketplace my old tires for cheap. So I get the new tires at like half price then I get 50%-ish of that back by selling the still useable old ones.

I know there are many who would say "I would never use anything but brand new tires, NO PATCHES!!" but the last time I bought a set of brand new tires for my daily, I ended up with three patched tires within three weeks of buying the tires (two of those happened on day one). Could have saved about $800 in that case had I just bought takeoffs.

With the ever-increasing cost of tires, and the stratospheric cost of off-road tires especially, I think there's a very strong argument for going the (lightly) used route.

So these tires are bit more used than what you prefer but would you be concerned about the weather checking in the picture I posted?

I would check for the clearance section on some of these tire centers. I just picked up 4 Michelin Trail LTX tires 265/70/18 for 99 dollars each AND a 80 dollar rebate when I purchased 4. So I paid 320.00 for 4 new tires. My originals were 255/70/18 and were priced at 245 per tire so I checked one size up and they were on sale for 99. They went even cheaper the following week at 88 per tire. I shopped at GIGA tires.
