What Is this Cable Called?

The dealership is telling me this is a grounding cable but I'm pretty sure this cable was connected to the positive battery terminal. I have a 2019 Jeep Jl with the 2.0 turbo engine

What color is the actual cable (not the tape)? That will tell you what it was meant for.

It was probably loose or had corrosion, both would cause heating under load.

On the square endpiece, there is a number. What is that number?

This wire connects the fuse panel to either the battery, or to a ground...find that number and we can tell you what it does.

It is N1, they are all “keyed” and will only go on one terminal in the fuse array. If you look at the others in the picture I posted you can see the notches on the cable end.
