What is This Between the Front Tires?

Hi all -- I'm looking at this JL online and I see something between the front tires, below the bumper. Can anyone tell me what that is?

Look up “RV Toad.” As in “towed” or “dinghy towed.”

The implication here is that certain parts of that vehicle have a lot more over-the-road miles than you’d expect from the odometer (which was disconnected during flat towing operations). OTOH, it’s likely been rather well maintained.

Off the topic—in the OP, what are the inserts between the fenders and bumper called? Might like to try them on my 21 Sahara—muck always thrown up on bumper.

Most Sport models seem to have that filler piece on the bumper, mine came with them.

Mopar sells them, but i agree with Nordekai youmight be able to pick up a set of take offs pretty cheap.

they come stock on Sport and Sport S. going bigger, i believe larger than 32, that'll rub. so a lot of people take them off.

Thanks all for helping me figure these out. My 21 Sahara HA is only 2-3 times a year out in CO…seems the tires throw much up on the bumper all the time. Thinking about trying them out—anyone reading this got them to unload?

I still find that mud runs all around them on the Vermont back roads. Maybe less on the bumper than without them, but they do not prevent mud from leaking through.
