What are these 2 cables for?

I'm starting a little diy project for my 2.0 JL and before I do anything I want to make sure I have all variables down before anything goes wrong. These 2 cables attach to the box containing the air filter? What are they for and are they necessary to keep connected?

One of those is the make up air line for the PCV system. You will get a Check Engine Light with it disconnected

I don't think those aren't cables dude, they look like air or vacuum lines.

I think may have something to do with the evap system. They had to replace that on mine

Left side is the Vacuum Boost Hose, right side (with the green anti tamper) is the Fuel Vapor Purge Hose
