I was reading this post:
https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/ess-dual-battery-management.60034/

And I'm planning to do it. But it seems the wiring isn't the same as in the post.

On my jeep, (2) connects to the body, and (1) goes to the aux battery. I double checked with multimeter.

Is it supposed to be the other way around? (1) goes to ground, and (2) goes to aux?
My dealer replaced aux battery 6 months ago and not sure if the technician swapped the cable.

They switched those cables at some point. I think the thread you posted is where the switch was first discovered. The underhood diagrams I've made since the discovery point out the change.

Are you saying the JL factory design was changed at some point?

I can confirm that my 2018 looks different. My aux negative is a smaller gauge wire and the therefore simple to identify.

My suspicion is whether the technician at dealership swapped them intentionally or unintentionally when replacing the battery...

The cables can only be installed as built from the factory, a technician cannot swap them.

Gotcha...
Then I feel it's gonna be tricky if applying your idea about making the aux battery as a emergent backup..
