Welding Harmonic Balancer

I have a 2019 with the 2.0 that the pin on the crank has sheared off. Dealer says needs a new motor but they are on back order. Another shop has suggesting the harmonic balancer to the crank. Is there any other options? Is this even a good option?

Is it a short term fix for an engine already going to be replaced sure why not. Personally would I do it? Not a chance. Even with it welded to the crank if it is not perfectly balanced (and it won't be) you will do a lot more damage than already done to the crank, rods, pistons etc. Unless the dealer is getting you a complete engine and not a long block they will probably be transferring some parts over.
