It has been out for a few months now. I was going to spring for the 10-S Platinum but like the size and price of the XD. Just hoping maybe somebody here has some time with it and can give an opinion.

Planning on mounting in the factory steel bumper, has anyone had experience with it, or with the Platinum and loves/hates it?

XD is the better choice, I'm not a fan of the wireless only operation of the Platinum, but I guess I'm stuck as the money has been spent

I should clarify, even the clutch connect/disconnect is wireless only. No physical handle on the unit

That's interesting, I liked the idea of being able to control the clutch remotely but sounds like you can't operate the winch at all manually? Can you plug in a backup controller to the winch itself, say if you wanted to carry a corded one in case you absent mindedly drain/destroy(drive over) the remote?

No, and the battery life is just horrid on that remote.

Hmm, is there any reason the Platinum is nearly a grand more? It looks like it has a faster zero load speed, is it stronger, better salt spray protected, anything?

Not sure on stats, it is over all a very nice solid unit, I haven't really used it beyond spooling the rope under tension.

Thanks, that's good information. I assumed there was a remote backup option. That could be the deal breaker for the Platinum for me.
