I've almost dropped my winch controller a few times.

I haven't found anything online that could act as a lanyard and keep the controller from falling to the ground, if (when) I accidentally drop it.

Has anyone fabricated some kind of keychain, lanyard, wrist bungee or other method of securing a Warn VR EVO controller?

I ended up buying a vape pen lanyard kit with multiple silicone band sizes.
Works well.
You can buy them on Etsy or Amazon.

Depending on the kit; it comes with silicone bands of different sizes that fit around the controller's grip. The silicone bands attach to a traditional lanyard.

Note: it helps to get a kit that contains larger bands since the controller is thicker than a typical vape pen.

I just picked up a VR Evo 12s for my '24 JT, and came across this thread while googling randomly for information on the controller. I thought this was a neat idea, so I made a 3D printable a cap that can keep the connector clean and attach a lanyard. I've made it freely available as well.

Anyways, thanks for the great idea! Hopefully you can print one out or have one printed for you.

None... but it pays well.
I took apart my controller to check the build. It's mostly water proof, all but battery and wire connection points. As long as it is dropped in fresh water it will survive. I plan on a Lithium recharable pack upgrade later on and to seal it... though I will be using my cellphone with WARN app mostly.

As for a lanyard... drill a small hole at the handle base seam where the two housings meet and install a ring-clip for attaching a lanyard. Have the swivel be within the seam when closed. The small ring will keep the clip from pulling out.

I prefer the black anodized over silver or gold option.
