I posted a pre trip post however if you missed that I was able to secure a month off work. I had always wanted to take a month off and head west, well that time finally came.
I took my 2024 Rubicon, the plan was to sleep inside the jeep utilizing a deep sleep disperse camping as much as possible.
Week 1 -
I set out from VA making it to the land between the lakes, I explored in the jeep and on foot. Due to recent rain it was extremely muddy in places however I enjoyed it, except for a creepy dude who showed up at the end of the road I was camping at twice. So I relocated, slept great and had no further issues. I was able to connect with an old friend. Spent a night in the Ozarks and drove a small section of Route 66 in Oklahoma. I made the decision to press on to Colorado due to the heat. It was late however I found a beautiful campsite. Worked my way North to Mt Antero - I encountered snow at about 12500 feet and hiked the rest of the way to the summit at 14273feet, what a hike. Worked my way over to Lake city and completed Engineer and Cinamon pass.
