Just ask @cosine he knows!
I have a Sport S without the HD brakes. There was a noticeable difference between my JL and my JT in braking force. Not as responsive, and much more pedal force required to get the same amount of braking. Not wanting to do an entire brake kit, I went with the Hawk LTS pads and Hawk Talon rotors. They’re noisy, very dirty, but provide a significant improvement in performance. They feel very similar to the JT’s brakes now.

Granted, this is at the expense of them throwing a lot of dust, significantly reduced life, and noise at light application, but the performance is worth it for me.

Drilled/ slotted rotors aren’t the best choice for an off road vehicle, but I haven’t had an issue with mud yet. Greatly reduced fade on high speed stops though.

Nice to hear, I'm going to get those same pads soon, I think w/ the stock rotors they should still be a nice upgrade in stopping power, and like you I don't care about excessive dust, that's a great tradeoff for better braking IME.

Looks like a nice setup there, have you been happy w/ the braking performance?
Yes, and no. The factory brake system is vacuum assisted and vacuum is provided by a belt driven pump. However, there is a valve that is between the brake booster diaphragm, on the firewall, and the pump. This valve is "computer controlled" by the BCM. Not sure what the purpose for this is. But it was a recall item to get the software updated. It was commanding less/no vacuum in situations where the pedal was applied a second or third time within a time period. So loss of brake assist in certain circumstances. I can recall a handful of times that it lost assist and I could barely stop, regardless of Wilwoods or stock brakes. I got the recall done a couple years ago.

But, other than that, the Wilwoods are much better than the stock brakes.

Nice that you got it sorted out. I had Wilwoods on the front of our Infiniti G, they were only 4 pots but still quite an improvement over the stockers, and the Wilwood pads were great!

I just happen to have the brakes on the truck apart now. They needed turning and pads. I'm also rebuilding the balljoints, bushings and tierods.

Hi all,
I upgraded my old JK brakes to the Mopar big brake kit and it was much better. However my 392 is supposed to already have upgraded brakes. I’d still like some more stopping power. Any suggestions of what we can use?
I haven’t read his whole thread but I added APB big brake kit to my wife’s Rubicon with 6 piston fronts with SS lines all the way around and it’s night and day

16" diameter rotors and 6 piston calipers should bring about anything you can load it down with to a stop.

I just got a reply from Teraflex confirming that the 392 XR will fit https://teraflex.com/delta-brake-system-front-rear-5x5.html this kit.
Not a bad price at all, so I assume that will clear the 17" wheels? looks like they have a template available to verify clearance.
On the notes it states~

Although the Delta Brakes fit the JL Wrangler Unlimited 392 axles, it does not clear the factory beadlock wheels. 392 models REQUIRE aftermarket wheels.

Yeah I'm doing the same thing with APB Brakes going to test fit it just in case, I just wanted to see if Teraflex's system didn't have to be measured.

I have the Mopar Beadlock wheels (77072466AB) on my JLR. I printed out a few different brake templates (13.5" Baer, 14" Baer, Wilwood, and Alcon).

Only the 13.5" Baer fit without requiring spacers. It seemed like the Alcons would fit with spacers.

How are the rotors and brake pads holding up? Would you recommend? I have sport s also now needing to replace brake pads, would like more stopping power for sure haha but not looking to overbuy

I rotate my tires every 3000 and inspect the brakes at the same time. Plenty of pad left, and no lips on the rotors. The rotors are beginning to show slight grooving across the entire surface from the more aggressive pads, so when it comes time to do pads again a rotor swap will be needed as well. That might bother some people, but it’s acceptable to me.

Sounds like you're a fan of the LTS pads, need to get some soon! Had several of their various performance pads over the years, always worked well once they're bedded in properly.

There is a noticeable difference in performance. It’s not as good as the brakes on my gladiator, but better than the factory sport (non HD) brakes.
