The full-float is the strongest option. The only reason to use the semi-float is so you could use your existing 5 bolt wheels and brakes. The full-float version is an 8 lug wheel bolt pattern.
From what I understand, you can’t get a 68 inch full float axle with an 8 V pattern let alone a five bolt pattern. Need a 68 inch axle with a full float and five bolts or eight bolts

Spicer just recently announced 72" axles.
Saw that, which is nice but doesn’t address the the 68 inch need for a normal JLR. It sucks that you can’t get the new full float that’s on the new JLR but aftermarket axles are more desirable with the Eaton electric locker and not the oem locker that has the system in oil and fails.

Hi,

Full float the wheel stays on the vehicle if the axle shaft breaks.

Semi float the wheel comes off With axle shaft, brakes, etc.

Regards,
Jim
It doesn't with disc brakes, but you probably don't want your calipers holding things together too long. It works to get off the trail but I wouldn't run freeway speed like that. The only reason to go semi-float is you can retain the 5 lug pattern and your wheels. If you're going to 8 lug I wouldn't even consider the semi-float.

Don't quite understand what you mean. They advertise these axles specifically to fit a JL, and from what I can find the width is right around 68"-69" on these.

It looks like the front Ultimate 60 only comes in the 8x6.5" bolt pattern which means you need a full-float rear axle to get the same bolt pattern. It doesn't look like the semi-float version even have the option of the 8 lug pattern. And again, there is absolutely no reason to get the semi-float unless you want to keep the stock 5x5" lug pattern, which also means you are keeping either the stock front axle or using a Dana 44 version.

Not even sure if it's possible to have the 5x5" bolt pattern on this full floating rear axle. The full float hub sticks out through the wheel, and is probably 4"+ diameter...not sure there is even enough room to the stock lug pattern.
