So I just got a used ’18 Sahara with the 8” radio and technology package, have a friend who’s a dealer so we bought it at wholesale auction.
My question is this: Right now the SiriusXM radio is still working (based on the title we can see the vehicle was leased). So I’d like to download the UConnect app, but I also would just as soon keep the free Sirius Programming for as long as possible. Does anyone know if I download the app and then register the radio to me, will that eliminate the Sirius programming, or are those separate?

I believe that the Sirius XM trial is tied to that radio for as long as it lasts. Sirius and UConnect are not connected in any way other than using the radio ID to assign the service.

The free trial for the radio is for one year so whoever owned it must of renewed it. That means when he remembers he can call and cancel it.

Where it gets a little fuzzy is the extra services provided by SiriusXM Guardian such as the on-call services activated by the buttons on your rear-view mirror. SiriusXM and SiriusXM Guardian seem to either acknowledge or deny a relationship with each other based upon whether or not the affiliation benefits them in the given situation...

Actually, now that you mention it, despite it being an ‘18, the in service date was sometime in June if ‘19, so it’s probably still under that free year....

I think the 8.4 inch screen came with a 5 year sirus package vs the 7.4

The 5 year trial was just for the SiriusXM Travel Link service. Gets you weather, traffic, sports scores, stock prices, etc. through your unit. And they'll try to take it from you if you try to change your SiriusXM Music subscription after the 1-year trial ends. Learned that the hard way... lol
