I have a 2018 JLU with about 67k miles on it. My UConnect has these weird red line all over the screen that get worse with darker contrasts. This issue actually started a few months ago, but not nearly as bad as the pictures below (1 or 2 lines max).

It works fine nonetheless - touch functions work, sound is fine, etc. It doesn’t look like it’s condensation as I think that would be present when the screen’s off. Thinking of maybe pulling the unit out and replugging the wire to see if that does anything, but has anybody else experienced this or something similar? Is it a loose wire or is the display just cooked?

This just happened to mine today, I hope someone has a fix for this. I can’t find any posts on this anywhere.

I can’t either. I did pull the unit out and disconnected/reconnected all of the wires in hopes that it would “restart” it , unfortunately no change so it’s looking more like an issue with the unit itself.

This sucks!! I’ll probably end up calling the dealer this week to see about getting the unit replaced cause I have a feeling that is going to be the only fix. Could possibly just replace the screen but that’s no guarantee that will fix the problem.

This could be an issue with the LCD or maybe the video board. Try performing a canbus reset and make sure you are up to date firmware wise. If that doesn't help then I'd try replacing the LCD.

Hey all, wanted to follow up to this thread. My unit recently started to really sh** the bed, to the point where I couldn’t even have the screen on at all because the display was so static-y (mind you the controls did still work the entire time). I had been debating on upgrading to the 8.4 inch version of this anyway, so swapped out my defective screen with a new one from Infotainment.com and it worked like a charm! So unfortunately, the unit itself was the problem and the only solution seems to be replacing the entire unit.

A brand new unit is a little pricey especially if you’re upgrading to the 8.4 inch version, but I have seen people posting used ones on eBay or Marketplace for cheaper. I only ordered new because I wanted the option to return in case replacing the unit didn’t solve my problem.

Regardless if you’re doing a simple replacement or an upgrade, the install is plug and play and is super easy. There are plenty of videos on how to do it, I used this one from Infotainment.com where I ordered the replacement from:

Hope this helps anybody facing a similar issue. As with anything though, your results may vary! 😊

That video isn't from us. That is a customer that purchased the radio from us in the past.

Here is our video of the install for Wranglers and Gladiators.

These units are plug and play as long as you get the correct part number for full feature integration. So you don't need to purchase the radio unit from us if you do your research. But our units come with our warranty plug everything we do to the radio unit to make it as good as brand new if it isn't a new unit already.

If you liked the 8.4" radio upgrade, wait till you see our 10.1 OEM radio upgrade kit we are doing for Wranglers (New and old), Gladiators, and Grand Cherokees.

Check our this preview of the 10.1 prototype.

Looks promising, but it's a shame you guys can't offer that in an 8.4" screen size and retain all the original dash components.
The 10.1 uses your original bezel, weather you have a 8.4" bezel or a 7", or the rounded edges bezel of the 5" OEM radio. We have brackets to use your stock bezel to install the 10.1
We did look into doing the Uconnect 5 with 8.4" system. There just isn't enough room behind the radio screen for Uconnect 5 screen and radio module. Only all in one Uconnect 5 is the UBD and that was never meant to go in a Jeep. It does not acclimate to the vehicle. It would require a massive about of signal translations between the radio and vehicle.
