Hello all,

Recently when I start up "Jolene" the uConnect seems to flake out a little. For instance it will be connected to my phone, but show a screen saying it is connecting, that won't go away until I clear it, by hitting the red x"

Most of the time the "accept" button when it turns on won't allow me to click it, and it seems to lag at times between screens.

Now I'm just happy I have SXM and Bluetooth at this point but I'm wondering, is there an update for this system or a better option?

Thanks.

Yes, the 7 inch radio. Or the 8.4 but they are more expensive. I dealt with the little radio for a while and the they work ok, easiest to put in a bigger radio.

There is no update available for the Uconnect 3, so far as I know. Certainly nothing over the air, since that particular unit wasn't designed for it.
Edit: If there have been updates/recalls for the U3, either they occurred before I purchased my 2021 JLU, and/or my radio wasn't included.

Mine has exhibited the same occasional lagginess from new. What's interesting is that it will pair with my phone notably faster after a cold start then it will after a hot start. But for that odd disconnect, it's been 100% reliable.

You could consider replacing it with another head unit, whether OEM or aftermarket. Be prepared to wrestle with the challenges of doing so, if you choose that option.

There have been a few updates for the 5", the last one I'm aware of corrected the issue where it was losing time. If yours is keeping accurate time, it's up to date as far as I know.

I think there is a way to reboot it, at least try pulling the fuse to reset it and see if that helps.

Just to add, both of mine (JL and JT) have been problem free for years after the last update.
