UConnect - Apple CarPlay - Android - Only Apple?

Hi All - I searched the internet, and I think I have the answer but didn't feel 100% completely satisfied.

I have the premium alpine/larger screen uconnect stereo and Apple CarPlay actually works great (as opposed to in my JK). Do Google devices work just as seamlessly, or not really? My research led me down a path that said that if you the Apple CarPlay version that you don't have the Google option. Can anyone confirm or deny? I'm considering switching from apple to samsung for phones and just want to consider all the consequences.

Yes, the android/google phones work seamlessly. You get more usable screen space than the apple version.

Hi there! Will share my experience with you.

I finally bought my wranglerJL last month.
I drove ann Audi Q5 for years, so I assumed that Wrangler would be breezy to work with using Uconnect. A few days prior to my purchase, I decided to switch from Apple to Samsung Z Fold 4. A week after purchase (don’t drive much), I finally needed to use the Uconnect system for Navigation. Everything seemed well until 5 mins into my drive, in the dark, the screen would froze up. I had to pull over and do the whole repairing and stuff, and made sure Android Auto had the correct settings. Booted up and I waited 5 mins before driving again. Thought things were fine. Then 10 mins later it froze again. I was not happy. I was on my way to a sleep study appt and needed the navigation. So I had to use the dash to hold my phone and go from there without the Uconnect on.
I had a appt with dealer ship a few days later for rim changes. Spoke to my service advisor about it, techs looked for updates, and found nothing wrong. Gave me directions in my seat on re-pairing phone and stuff. Things I already did prior to dropping my Jeep off. Set it up AGAIN, and 15 mins into my drive it froze up, AGAIN as well!! I am not sure which Android phone you are thinking about, but I am thinking that maybe my Z Fold 4 is just not compatible. I switched my SIM card back into my apple phone this evening and plan to test it it again. I am hoping that is the issue. And thank goodness I kept my Apple 13 pro max. Just wanted to share what my experience has been with using the Z Fold 4. Not gonna lie.. I love the Z Fold too! Love that it opens up to a mini tablet. It’s been very useful.

I hope this kinda helps. I will have to update you when I try to pair the Apple phone. ?.
