Is there a trail app that can be downloaded and used directly from the JL's U-Connect screen? There are plenty that can be downloaded to your phone, but why not have it already loaded into the Jeep? It would make it very convenient to follow the trail using the U-connect screen versus a phone.

I was hoping that someday, the alltrails app could be used via carplay since they now allow 3rd party apps like waze and google maps.

Ya. Alltrails would be great. I hope someone's working on a system to make that happen.

Was hoping for the thing. I use gaia pro trail app on my phone, but it is not compatible with CarPlay.

I am playing around with google maps off line viewing and adding way points from GPX files. I am about 80% there, but it seems like some of the gpx "layers" are not showing on the offline map. Ideally one of the true offroad apps will take care of this directly through the car screen but until then I am planning on leveraging the google maps. I will have enough equipment up on and around my dash, I do not want my phone to be mounted up there as well.

Yip - I posted a similar thread here. We got stuck in that that to zoom in/out with the layers visible, you need to be connected...

I don't know about apple phones but with Android if you are willing to root your phone, you can put whatever app you want on the car screen..
