My Viper alarm for my Duramax allows me to set the engine to run for 1 to 5 minutes after I exit the truck to allow the turbo to cool down. Does anyone know if the Tazer mini can do the same?
My new Eco-Diesel is still waiting for a ride out west from Toledo, so I inquiring for the future.

Diesels come with extra responsibilities no time should it ever Take 5 minutes to cool down a turbo on a diesel. In 95% of all diesels all situations with a hot turbo a maximum of 2 1/2 minutes will suffice a turbo cool down. On the other end you should not over rev a cold diesel and wait until normal operating temperatures before operating anything higher than 2000 RPM. Treat your diesel right and it will treat you right. Don't be in a hurry

I do believe that the buzzing noise you hear when you shut down the diesel is a water pump circulating coolant through the turbo for a bit.
I read that here some where.

Get Scangauge, monitor regens and turbo temps.
In most cases, you would not need to idle more than 30 seconds on turbo temps.

Here is what the manual for Wrangler Ecodesel recommends.

The main thing I do is turn off engine stop start. I get off the highway after running for 20 - 25 mins at 70ish mph and red light right off highway and stupid ESS shuts down engine. Probably ok but I prefer to let it idle at the red light right before getting home. Otherwise just let it idle in the driveway for min or so. Might buy a scan device just to turn that off for good. Waste of time.

Thanks for you input guys. Permanently deleting the ESS is one of the reasons for buying the Tazer mini. I'm sure that starter repair shops love those E$$ systems!

I contacted Z Automotive Technologies regarding my question and received the following response...

Hi Tom,

isn't a feature at this time but I added you request to engineering to be considered for future features. Can't provide and eta but would be useful feature for the eco-diesel users.

Thanks,

Scott R.
