I just added RK 2.5 lift and 35s and now it seems fine but still thinking gearing. If i change gears might as well add LSD, and since I never plan to rock crawl i am looking at the truetrac. Question is how street friendly are they in the front axel.

I would prefer a selectable in front. I don’t know the truetrac LSD , but my experience with both my Jeep’s front mechanical lockers that plowed straight ahead in deep snow or mud regardless of front wheel direction and my Bronco’s front LSD that was better but still somewhat did the same. I wouldn’t want front non selectable.
When I told my cousin I got lockers on my 63 “You’re not gonna like it in front“
The front did save me a few times, but now selectable is available.

I had an XJ Cherokee with TrueTracs front and rear. It was the best snow capable rig I've ever had. I had the full time transfer case and would use that in mixed conditions. That Jeep was unstoppable.

I'm building an MJ Comanche and setting it up the exact same way.

I ran one in the front of my 84 Toyota and loved it. It's noticeable, but not that bad. When I corners you can tell if you really step on or off the throttle when in 4wd. Under normal driving it's seamless.
If I didn't have a Rubicon and was to regear, I'd run it front and rear.
No clutches to wear out, no special additives needed. Works pretty solid, in sticky situations, a little dragging of the breaks really makes it shine.

I had them front and rear in my 96 Dodge Ram 1500 (a beast in the snow), front and rear in a buddy's 98 Jeep ZJ, and currently front and rear in my 23 JLU Willys XR. Did a FAD delete up front when we put in the TrueTrac. No issues whatsoever.

Last time I looked a year or so ago, they recommend non-synth lube for the diff, but the axle manufacturer recommends synth for the axle. Any of you tried synth with the Truetrac?

They recommend pure Dino, so that's what I've always used.

I had them front and rear in a 2016 JKU. They were great in snow and off road. I will be adding one to the front in my 2025 JLU Willys. I would do the rear but it has the e locker.

I absolutely love the one in the rear of my JTOD. If I were to ever replace the 3.73s I would 100% add one to the front at the same time.

ditto.

they say there *might* be some synths that work in them but they haven't tested them all, so don't recommend Synth.
i haven't had any problems with either of mine (had one in the old J**p for decades already) that would make me want to do anything other than what they recommend.
