I had an email conversation with the folks from Trails Offroad yesterday (the folks that supply the trail maps for the app that is built into the infotainment head). I reached out to them because they had sent out an email offering a free year subscription. I thought that it was going to extend the subscription for the infotainment head, but it is for a free year for the app/website.

In his email (and confirmed in an email response from Jeep Connect Support) they app in the Jeep Infotainment head is going to be discontinued very soon. If you use those maps, you'll have to use your phone along with Android Auto or CarPlay.

If you want the free year subscription to the app, here's the instructions:
1. The customer visits https://www.trailsoffroad.com/adventure-guides and enters the personalized code from the customer’s letter or VIN to redeem membership/ trial

2. Download the Trails Offroad app in the Apple Store or Google Play Store

Wonder why they are discontinuing this. You would think it would just work like a Sirius subscription, if you pay keep hearing the music if you dont you just get the main subscription channel.

At least the app works using CarPlay.

It is correct that the embedded Trails Offroad experience inside the Jeep infotainment head unit (formerly Adventure Guides) is being sunset. The head unit experience operated within Jeep’s software ecosystem, so while we supplied the trail content, we did not control the platform itself. We’ve worked closely to make the transition as smooth as possible for customers.

• If you are a current subscriber of Jeep Adventure Guides All-Access, you receive 12 months of Trails Offroad All-Access at no cost and no credit card required.
• If you have an Adventure Guide capable vehicle and only activated the free version, you have the opportunity to receive a shorter no-credit-card trial of the full Trails Offroad experience.

Here are the benefits of this:

The Trails Offroad mobile app and web platform are significantly more robust than what was available in the head unit. The app includes:

Thousands more trails as now you get access to our Scout Routes (light Trail Guides)
Public Land boundaries
Forest Service Road data and BLM road data (where available)
Offline capability
Follow mode navigation
Advanced filters
Lists for planning and collaboration
National campgrounds

On the web platform, you also gain access to planning tools such as routing and GPX import features to help you build and organize trips before heading out.

If you received a letter or VIN based code, here’s how to redeem:

  1. Visit https://www.trailsoffroad.com/adventure-guides and enter your personalized code or VIN. Follow all the instructions.
  2. Download the Trails Offroad app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and log in using the same email credentials you used when redeeming. Remember, the login for the apps is the same as the web, and the web provides a great planning and inspiration experience.

If anyone has questions during redemption, contact [email protected]. John is standing by and happy to help.

We’re bummed to see it go too. We’ve loved being part of the in-vehicle experience, and we’re looking forward to continuing the journey with you through the app and web platform. See you out on the trail.

The Trails Offroad Adventure Guide and trail recording apps were removed from my Jeep's Infotainment center this afternoon (3-14-2026).

I had to make a 2 hour round trip to pick up some special screws at the closest Menards, and I guess that allowed enough time for an OTA update to download. When I pulled into the garage & shut the engine off, the notification popped up to install the update.

Once the update was complete, I checked the off-road screen and all that is left is the engine gauges, tilt & angle indicators, transfer case gear selection and camera access.

I had to laugh a bit because for the first 8-10 months of the free two year trial that Jeep offered, the app would never install. After a ton of emails, phone calls and then finally paying for the service on the Jeep Connect web site, app magically appeared.

Then when it came time for Jeep to discontinue the service, BOOM, the app was gone within a couple of weeks after they announced it.

Thank you to @trailsoffroad for providing a year of free service on their phone app to thoseof us that were subscribed through the Jeep Connect site.

You bet! Hopefully, we'll see each other out on the trail someday! I know our Ryan loves it up there in the Black Hills.

Any update to this? The Trails Offroad website currently seems to suggest some kind of new experience is coming?

The page: https://www.trailsoffroad.com/adventure-guides

Says: "Jeep® Adventure Guides is transitioning to an expanded experience powered by official Jeep® brand partner Trails Offroad — with more trails, better maps, and enhanced navigation tools."

Among all the offroad navigation/trail app, I like yours the most. However, the UI and app quality is not good. Not sure if you outsourced it or developed in house. Is it open-sourced? happy to help if it's on github.

We sure appreciate you being part of our family @ym0bc1!

Everything you see is built in-house and fully custom. We do not outsource the product, and it is not open source. That said, we are a small team and we have been heavily focused on re-engineering parts of the backend so we can iterate on UI and UX much faster moving forward.

We genuinely value the good, bad, and ugly feedback. It is how we get better. If you have specific ideas or things you would like to see improved, feel free to reach out to [email protected] or DM me here. Please allow a few days for a response. We also have an ambassador program where you can share feedback more directly with the team.

Ah darn! We just used this in Moab this past November (2025) and it was Great! Others in our group were using OnX and they were not seeing some of the things we were seeing with this built in feature. Bummed.

@B.Davis we love Moab and have a lot of fun creating the Trail Guides you used on your trip. We are out here this EJS doing more updates and adding new trails too! All that you loved is in our app on your phone/tablet or via CarPlay and Android Auto. Here is the link: https://www.trailsoffroad.com/adventure-guides

email us at [email protected] with any questions.

Interesting. I very much wish the widespread trail availability of OnX and it's better navigation would be incorporated into Trails Off-road.

As it stands now, I'm a subscriber to both. I love the trail and obstacle markers with photos on Trails Off-road, but that's all it has going for it. I hope you guys use this feedback to improve because without it I won't be renewing my subscription as the value is just not there.

When TOR's follow mode works, it's pretty slick.

What is this adventure guide you speak of? On both of my 25s sport and rubicon they have the offroad pages but no adventure guide. OnX is cool I do wish they had better descriptions like TOR. Their navigation does seem better than TOR but with TORs descriptions and photos navigation isn’t too bad.

Trails Offroad built into the Jeeps starting in 2024. Loved in this last November in Moab. Everything I read said its going away in February 2026, but mine is still active in my Jeep as of March 2026.
