Company Car - but waiting on my Wrangler JLUR :)
My nightmare continues. After my most recent Jeep Chat this morning, my ETA has now been pushed back a 4th time.

Prior to the KZ freeze I'm in now, I was part of the dreaded JB hold waiting on a soft top as I had purchased the dual top group. I'd repeatedly asked my dealer to get the vehicle shipped without the soft top but we were told that was impossible. I spent 32 days in JB and moved to KZ on 03/14 where I was provided with an ETA of 03/18-03/22. On the 18th, ETA moved to 03/21-03/25, then on the 20th it moved again to 3/24-3/28, and now again this morning Jeep Chat has advised it's been pushed back to 3/27-3/31.

I had asked the GM at my dealership to escalate on Friday as I told him I was planning on cancelling my order given I had ordered this vehicle on Jan 16th and have now been without a car for a week (previously had a company vehicle that I was no longer allowed to hold on to). He 100% guaranteed me it would be delivered this coming Monday. Seems like absolutely nobody can get FCA to respond to live up to any of their commitments. This whole process has been an embarrassment from the poorly communicated delays to the awful inconsistent service in both Jeep Chat and the dealerships. Who else has had it with these guys?

Check with your dealer for local retail shops that will ceramic coat your Jeep in your area if you don't want to do it yourself. I had it done back in 2002 with my car and it did last a long time as well as making it look better after running through a car wash.

Another benefit is that it protects your paint from contaminants better such as bird droppings.
Oh good!

I get your frustration. I'm not quite at that point yet, but it really is a disaster. I think that jeep chat has been given less and less info the further into this launch we get. "Can you at least tell me if the vehicle is still in Toledo?" "oh, you'd have to check with your dealer for that." Really, you don't even know if it's still there or not? Then why the hell is the chat even there if they don't know anything and can't help you until you've been in any given status for at least a month?

But it really does seem to be the standard with the slipping ETAs. They don't seem to be in any hurry to get vehicles off of their lot. Regardless of whether the same truck could make 2 pickups in the same day.

So far I've gotten:

3/16-3/26
3/25-3/29
3/28-4/1
3/31-4/4

If it goes on much longer I might see if the dealer can go up there and drive it back. I just can't fathom waiting so long to go such a short distance. It's not like it's at a rail station and has to go that far, the trucks are already in Toledo daily.

Yeah, it seems like it's getting worse and worse. I'm in Canada, so dealing with Jeep Chat is already next to impossible. About 50% of the people there say they won't help you if you're Canadian. Jeep Chat is for US folks only. Then they redirect you to the FCA canada number where if you call you are told they have 0 information on build status. It's a total joke. The other 50% happily help you and provide you with status and ETA.

I think my next step is to ask the dealer on Monday if we can find another similar vehicle that's already landed in another dealership and transfer it over. Alternatively, I'll be asking for my deposit back and finding one on a lot somewhere else. There needs to be a better escalation process for vehicles that have been in Jail for long periods of time. They also need to find a way to provide ETAs that aren't completely bogus. a 4 day window should be more than enough. How that gets pushed back 4 times within a week is beyond me..

That's the thing that I find the most frustrating. In 6 days my eta has been pushed back 10. Each day for the last 3 days, they have pushed it back an additional 3 or 4 days. It's not just that it got pushed back because it hasn't gone out yet. They just keep extending it further and further.

From what I’ve read, where I’m not even sure at this this point :cwl:, is that some are shipping out without dealer notification. Some are shipped without the tops. And some are sitting there waiting in KZ for the top. That’s what I think is happening with my build, it’s in KZ waiting for a top. I can’t even imagine the backlog of orders for shipping and tops, that’s why it’s such a clusterf*ck. So, it would be great to get a clear answer and I would scrap the soft top altogether if my dealer would go along with it.

I am in the same boat. I ordered my JL on 1/23/18. I was told by jeep that the order can be in a KZ status up to 30 days, which we are currently just over the 30 day window. Once the 30 days pass it can be escalated. I was told to reach out to the dealer for further information. I was advised by the dealer that jeep is backed up with the delivery and it could be another week. I tried to access jeep chat today but it looks like its down. I might see myself without a vehicle in about another week as my lease is due to be turned in first week of April. The frustration is getting real at this point.

Yeah, that's what I've seen also. I'm showing a gate out in Toledo and nothing else on my tracking. I don't see a lot others that go gate out that aren't being sent via rail that aren't actually on trucks at the time of the gate out. If they just moved it around there should be an ingate also. But around 8pm yesterday there was a gate out, and as of 10 minutes ago, nothing else has changed. But here I sit, my dealer hasn't called, and they are open today, so I don't know what to think anymore. Unless the dealer is just making me wait until tomorrow because my sales guy isn't there today. Of all of the things that have bothered me about this process, that would be the thing I resent the most.

So, help me out. What does gate out mean? Completely gone and is shipped?

From what I understand, I think that:

"Ingate/rebay" means they checked the vehicle into a specific area in the plant.
"Gate Out" means that they checked it out of that specific area in the plant.

Generally Gate Out is followed by another ingate/rebay within an hour or so, unless it's heading to storage, rail shipping, or the body vendor. Often "Gate Out" is also the last thing you see either before or after it's checked onto the truck to the dealer if it's a truck delivery.

So right now the tracking suggests that my vehicle is either on a truck, or it's lost since it wasn't checked back into another bay in the facility. Could also just be that they don't push updates to MOTS frequently, but there do seem to be updates more frequently than every 24 hours, so idk. I'll defer to your word of "Clusterf*ck"

EDIT:
Interestingly, it seems like some of the more recent orders are going to Marion, OH even if they are being put on trucks. I'm looking at one right now that's gate out after KZ, didn't reach Marion until 2 days later, then another 3 days later it was finally on a truck.

Looking at another one that was Gate Out after KZ, checked back into a gate 3 days later in Toledo, then put on a truck 7 days later.

Another one, Gate out after KZ, then a day later was picked up by a truck in Toledo and delivered the same day.

So yeah, "Clusterf*ck". The tracking is totally all over the place from order to order.

Mine arrived without the soft top in the back. Per my dealer, Jeep is going to ship them to the dealer with our VIN on The box, expected to be in 5+ weeks.

Is your dealer local? If not, is the dealer going to ship it to your address?

Your dealer can have it dropped off at a local dealers parts dept. I went through that with a cargo cover for a Grand Cherokee a few years ago.

Good to hear, as mine seller is about 600 miles away. I ordered on 3/13 with dual tops. It’s going to look just like yours! How do you like so far?

I purchased my SRT in Dallas and they dropped the cargo cover off in Birmingham. No issues whatsoever.
