My son just bought a new/leftover 2021 Gladiator and upgraded his wheels and tires as soon as he got it. He gave me his OEM wheels and tires. I like the wheels, which are black much better than the silver stock OEM Sport S wheels on my JL. I'm going to get a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3/W tires and have them mounted on the Gladiator wheels. However, I just read a post on here about the sensors being different for anything built after June 2021. I don't know what the build date is on his JT, but if was after June 2021 do I have to buy a new set of TPMS sensors or will I still be able to get those reprogrammed to work on my 2020 JL?

I don't think you can program this out as the TPMS receivers on the vehicle were also changed. Worst case you'll have to get 5 new TPMS sensors installed that are compatible with the TPMS receivers that are on your Jeep.

Look for the MDH info on the door sticker of the JT.

MDH =
Month
Day
Hour

In my example below....my MDH is 100618, meaning it was built October 06 at 18:00 (6:00 pm) Toledo time. My Willys is a 2021 model year, so you can also see that it was built October 2020.

@Captain Skip

Take the TPMS sensors you have on your JL now and have them installed on the new wheels you will install on your JL.

The TPMS's on your Son's wheel are a no go for your JL (if JL left factory mid-June) and they cannot be programmed.

Dealer parts dept. if you give them the Vin# of your Son's JT can tell you what TPMS's were on the wheels when your Son's JT left the factory.... and with that you can determine for sure if your Son's TPMS's will be a go for your JL. Doing this is the only way to be 100% sure.

OR.... you can buy new TPMS's that work with your model year JL .... OR, turn off TPMS on your JL with JSCAN or a Tazer JL.

Just heard back from my son....his JT was built in October 2021. I like the idea of swapping out my existing sensors. At least that way I won't have to reprogram the new wheels. I was going to sell my old wheels and tires - there's still a lot of life left in them - and the Bridgestone all seasons that came on his JT. I guess I can either sell them without sensors or put the newer ones in there and just let whoever buys the know.

@Captain Skip

Remember..... The TPMS's that you will remove from your Son's wheels are worth approx. $110. They can be easily sold.....

Use that cash to help offset your expenses in regard to this wheel swap.

Alternatively.....swap the JT tire and wheel assemblies onto your JL and drive it for a few miles and see if they work; easiest way is to get your son to shoot you a picture of the decal on the door or door jamb though. It would be less labor intensive.

He already checked - it's October 2021 and I already had the tires removed from the wheels.

So my JL has 010401 - it's a 2020 so that means Jan 4 2020?

Sounds right; double check this part of the decal where it says “BUILT”
